Pudong isn't the center of anything, just a new financial area in the outskirts. Something like La DÚfense.

i disagree with everyone saying pudong only looks good from one angle.

I think it looks good from 300 degrees, only if its taken from the other side of the bund, so u look onto th stock exchange and stuff that doesnt look good

And that is maybe cus the latest pic from there ive seen is from 2004.

This misconception really needs to stop. Lujiazui is about as far as being the "centre of Shanghai" as possible. Like z0rg said, it's a modern CBD located outside the city centre/inner city-- kind of like La DÚfense (but with supertall buildings).

The Lujiazui cluster is a tiny part of the total Shanghai skyline which arguably is the most massive on the planet.

I think Pudong is really great if you consider how young this part is...

Yeah, i agree with you. Its got its own characteristics, I find the HK skyline very breath taking as well.

Not everyone...

The park should remain a park...

If u don't like parks, and love a concrete jungle, with no green areas, go to Sao Paolo.

Looks like the skyline is being filled up quite nicely. Doesn't look as good from the touristy part of the Bund.

Pudong has a lot of potential, however I think it will be another 20 years until it is populated with enough people and companies to make it as lively as Puxi. I think that they need to plan for more density in the area and get rid of the Lujiazui Park.

I don't think they should get rid of the park, that is the best place to enjoy all of the Lujiazui buildings. Most of the Lujiazui development in the next 20 years will most likely take place in the area of low rise apts behind the stock exchange in the above picture. Most of the low rise apts near the world plaza are already vacant and will most likely be demolished in the next year or so...
