LoveCPH,
There isn't exactly an abundance of Chinese luxury brands yet. No matter where you are in the world (be it North America, Japan or Australia) it is European luxury brands that are dominating in these kinds of malls and high-end streets.

That being said though it's only a matter of time before we'll be shopping luxury Chinese brands on Strget.

kaiser,

Amazing pics. I especially love the first one. The Lujiazui skyline looks so mature.

What's made in China stays in China I surpose.
Well I just think it's sad that these brands dominate the shops etc. Who is the Chinese?
My impression is that the Chinese is not that wealthy, like here in Denmark.

Well Staff. Most clothes on Strget is actually from China in these days.

Well, it's the same thing all over the world-- European luxury brands dominate high-end streets and malls. However, Chinese brands such as Shanghai Tang is already going global-- I've seen their flagship stores here in Singapore as well as places like London and Paris.

The average income in Shanghai (let alone all of China) is still very low compared to the West, and Denmark in particular. Nonetheless, there are thousands upon thousands of wealthy people (more than 116.000 multi-millionaires and 7000 billionaires for example) in Shanghai so there's certainly a massive market for luxury items in the city.

I think it's either Ping'an insurance or China merchants bank's headquarter building in Shanghai, the design caters the typical Cantonese taste(cz both of the two companies are based in Shenzhen,Gunagdong).

I doubt PingAn wants to balance the skyline of Shanghai and other cities

The progress of the second IFC tower is now in a similiar state as the first tower in December
2007/January 2008. If they keep the same speed, the cladding will start in about 5 months
(February 2010) and the core will reach full height in 8 months (May 2010). If my calculation
from the previous posts in this thread is right, the cladding will then be finished in about
16 months from now (January 2011).

Not likely, there is talk of a construction ban during the World Expo next year which runs for 6 months, the same as what they did for the Beijing Olympics. It is expected to be for just external work though, so buildings with cladding completed will be able to continue fit-out, but this building won't have cladding on in time for the expo.
