The new HSBC logo on the first IFC tower is visible on this picture:

Cladding is also going up on the second IFC tower:

At least the HSBC logo (and the BEA one) is small. I remember only 4-5 years ago many of the towers in Lujiazui, particularly those closest to the water, were covered in large ugly ads.

Sorry, off topic but quick question, In the last picture, are those houses in the bottom of the picture?, just by the river, I mean, is there a residential area in Lujiazui? Do actual people live there? They seem to be at the bottom of Oriental Pearl Tower.

But honestly, if the developers have ANY aesthetic sense they will find these logos SO ugly and tacky that it totally ruins the building.

I like the English logos such as CITI bank and Mirae asset.

They should remove the ugly white background on HSBC and change BAE in English alphabets..

This would have been an awesome logo, hopefully they do install it on the second building.

I love the logos And all the lighting things, especialy when they set huge spotlights on the roof, lasers, neons, led stuff, etc anywhere on the facade, edges... lol. The tackier, the better. They should cover the SWFC with bland rainbow neon lighting all the time. Love it

I also don't like the white background. I would have preferred white text without any background for the HSBC logo.
But what's wrong with Chinese characters? This is China after all... And btw, there's a HSBC logo in Chinese on the other side of 1ifc:

Historical oddities... there are only a few.
There are lots of flats in Lujiazui though these are not quite in the centre of the finance district. Next to the new Shanghai Tower plot is all apartments as is the low-rise area behind the 21st Century Tower. There is another low-rise residential district over Pudong Nanlu across from the stock exchange. I used to live in one
Lots of flats going up along the river to the north too.

Yes, the mall should be one of shanghai's most luxury mall. I swear there is a huge discussion on this mall somewhere but can not find in this post. I think it was something like LV, Chanel, Boss etc.

Fair enough. But I think as long as the sign looks good it doesn't matter which language it is written in. I for one think the Mirae Asset sign is a bit too big and imposing.

I think it looks great, but it looked greater without the "et" at the end

Jin Mao looks so classic from this angle. The HSBC logo looks good at night.

Would look even better without the white background which is still visible at night.
