I would be happy to see a lawson or a 7/11 there to make century avenue more pedestrian friendly.

I really liked this lawson in SWFC underground level.

I dont think they will let a convience store have such great frontage. I was expecting them to put more luxury brands.

It's not dated at all .. the designs are modernist but it's just that there's nothing to make it a 'wow' from other better 5* hotels I've stayed in.

Well, even at IFC in Hong Kong, they have more middle-class stores such as McD, Mannings and Watsons. So it's definitely not all high-class brand names.

Hmm well yea luxury brands could do too

But the thing is century avenue is already so pedestrian unfriendly, i mean no exaggeration, if you walk all the way, from one end to another, you would not find one shop or convenient store on the pedestrian walk.

One might die due to dehydration in summer on century avenue because they couldnt find a convenient store to buy drinks :p

Exactly. This was why I hated the above-ground pedestrian roundabout so much. They should make it a big at-grade crossing so people from the financial district can easily cross to get to the waterfront or the Oriental Pearl Tower. Otherwise, there are no stores fronting the buildings all the way up to SWFC, hence not much reason why people should be out there.

I agree that Ritz-Carlton is not the best hotel brand in the world. I think that hotel such as Four seasons is better (HK Four seasons is just amazing)

Thats true. Maybe by putting kiosks along the walk way would be another solution. I just dont think IFC will sacrificesuch great frontage on a convience store. However i would think it would be alright to put a Watsons there.

Four Seasons Hong Kong was quite good. The Intercontinental in Beijing was the best for hardware, although the Taj series of hotels in India had better service.

The interiors look like Singapore's ION Orchard interiors. I guess it is because they were both built by Sun Hung Kai.

An older construction photo - they could've done so much more with that roundabout, such as putting a fountain and leisure space there instead of landscaping :

A fountain would have been nicer. But the landscape in the middle looks ok to me. Another thing that is really ugly in that area is the Oriental Pearl tower entrance i hope they change it soon.
