The sign is there as an attempt to divert traffic away from the construction mess. Believe me, you would not "LOL" if you need to negotiate your way round the place any more than necessary nowadays !

RM2b for Putatan development
Friday September 28, 2007
By NEWMOND TIBIN

KOTA KINABALU: The Government has allocated almost RM2bil for various development projects in the Putatan Parliamentary constituency located on the outskirts of Kota Kinabalu city.

Among the major projects are the expansion of Kota Kinabalu International Airport at a cost of almost RM1bil and upgrading railway services in Sabah at a cost of about RM400mil.

In addition, RM180mil was allocated for the restructuring of the Tanjung Aru water settlement near here, said Putatan Member of Parliament Datuk Dr Marcus Mojigoh, adding that all the allocations were covered under the Eighth Malaysia Plan and Ninth Malaysia Plan.

“We will build properly-organised housing in Tanjung Aru and the first phase of the project costing about RM10mil is under construction. The project will continue until our objective of restructuring the village is achieved.

“It is part of our efforts to look after the welfare of people in the area, which is among the rapidly-developing Parliamentary constituencies in the country,” he said in an interview.Dr Marcus said that other development projects underway in the Putatan constituency included the RM40mil expansion of the road from Simpang Tanjung Aru to Putatan town and repair work on the observatory for the sighting of the Ramadan new moon in Teluk Dumpil costing about RM2mil.

He said the Government also planned to build a short cut estimated to cost RM400mil that would link Tanjung Aru to Taman Sabindo in Lok Kawi.

Modern transportation: Project to expand
Kota Kinabalu International Airport at a cost of RM1bil.

Dr Marcus said the Putatan and Sembulan state constituencies had undergone major changes in terms of development including the construction of schools and health clinics.

“In this area, we have the most modern secondary school namely SMK Tansau which was built at a cost of RM37mil, and a popular tourist destination, which is the mini zoo in Lok Kawi which cost RM50mil,” he said.

Dr Marcus said the Government was also making efforts to change the image of Pulau Gaya, often considered a source of social problems to residents in the state capital, to a modern and organised settlement that would be a tourist attraction.

Subsequently, he said, the Government planned to build at least 1,000 housing units of various types and restructure the water settlement on the historic island.

“Most of the residents of Pulau Gaya are actually local. Undeniably, there are illegal immigrants but the situation is under control, especially with intensified patrolling by police to monitor the security situation there,” Dr Marcus said. – Bernama

Has anyone got any info as to the layout design of BKI T1 yet ?
Reason I ask, it appears the ramp that is now constructed reaches approx 2/F level of existing terminal, whereby the gates are located at 1/F level. Would it be fair to speculate that check in counters will be at 2/F, then departing pax to go one level down to the gates/aerobridges ? Arriving pax enter at 1/F level and go down to G/F for immigration and baggage claim/customs ?
