the new design looks like an old design. Influenced by something built in Victoria Park in the 60's!?!?

I prefer the old design the new one shows more realistic detail so it doesn't look as smooth but I liked the old roof designs, especially the angled lower section.

I much prefer the old design renders, somehow it looked smarter, I do keep telling myself with this one that maybe it will end up looking like one of those classy old NYC apartment buildings you see along Central Park, but I fear that this may go down the road looking more like a buffed up council estate tower like Barbican in London.

tha new design fits tha over feel of that block... runned down, brown, decaying... there are some horrendous looking brick multistories on this street...

>_<

they're lucky it's not up to me, i'd have that whole block knocked down... :p

Yeah the old design didn't fit with it's surroundings. Lots of old (historical?) buildings down that way.

Besides. White concrete buildings look tacky.

i don't mind tha historical buildings they're brilliant in that area...

but like tha ones busted out in tha 70's/80's are just repulsive... i dunno why you would live in tha area to be honest...

like there's that hotel on tha corner, must be 10 stories and it's all brown bricks... yeek!

Good old Aarons Hotel

Well thats the problem with mid-range hotels, you need them to be affordable otherwise you loose out on segments of the tourist market. But then it's not really viable for them to do an expensive, major, exterior surgery to the older buildings they occupy.

Yeah, the new design's a mixed bag. I prefer the top on the new one, but the brown exterior is bad 70's and the roof on the lowest section is bad late-70's. The pool seems to have disappeared, only to be replaced by....two trees....And no more glass balconies - back to the 60's for that design. Was this the building with the car-stacker? Wonder if that's still in the design?

you know what, as much as I hate this bldg I was looking at it really carefully and I think the one element that makes it look shite is the balustrade. I wonder how acurate the render is or whether they will change it. It might turn out only half bad with decent railing.
