Yup, absolutely right!

Catholic Churches in Solo

RumahBolon, the Church of HKBP Palembang is really Beautiful and what a Unique design, especially the roofing structure... about interiors : it looks so grand but feels peace inside

Here are some Catholic churches in Solo (semua peninggalan Belanda)
Gereja St. Antonius, Purbayan, Solo

Gereja St. Petrus, Gendengan, Solo

Hai Ampelio,
Thanks for the picture of Catholic Churches in Solo. My closest friend at work is also a Catholic from Solo.
To be honest, I prefer the old classic style church than modern one, therefore I admire more Gereja Peninggalan Belanda than the one like HKPB Palembang.
If I am not mistaken originally HKBP Palembang was designed by Frederick Silaban (the architec of Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta). He demanded certain conditions at that time which were not aggreed by the HKBP Congregation and Palembang Municipality.
The result as seen in the picture. No idea yet about the architec after Silaban's demands were declined.

That's what happened with our Monas, its original design by F.Silaban should be much better and more iconic than its current "tugu kecap bottle" shape.

IMO ...F.Silaban was one of greatest architects and artists that Indonesia ever had, together with the late architect Romo Mangunwijaya... They were both controversial but true and... very humanistics, more often the govt.authority people don't really understand what their deep philosophy and thought proccess of creating buildings...

....our 1st president Soekarno was one of good leaders who had the open mind-set and highly appreciated art and design as the integral part of culture and deep thought proccess ..F.Silaban was his golden boy anyway...
