Can someone please tell me if there are any plans in connecting Shengjin with Gjakove through Tropoje with a highway or railway? Or is that region cursed not to see any investment ever!

There is an plan to link Shkodėr with Gjakovė through Drin valley.This road will be known as "Adriatik-Alpe".

Rruga mė me ndikim nė tregun rajonal tė Ballkanit verior, ajo Shkodėr-Gjakovė, ka mbetur prej 70-80 vitesh vetėm nė poemat e heronjve tė Gjergj Fishtės apo memoriet e Edith Durhamit, se sa njė pėrllogaritje e nxitjes sė njė tregu tė fortė europian prej nga kontrollohet tregu i Shqipėrisė sė Veriut, Kosovės, Serbisė sė Jugut, Malit tė Zi dhe Bosnjes. Kjo rrugė, po qe se do tė ndėrtohet siē premtoi kryeministri i vendit, do t'i rikthejė Shkodrės atė qė ka patur pėr shekuj, njė kryeqytet tregtar tė rajonit ballkanik.

Plot 31 miliard lekė tė hedhura vetėm kėtė vit nė sistemin rrugor tė Shqipėrisė, plus 420 milion dollarė tė akorduar dje nga qeveria pėr rrugėt rurale, dytėsore, po i ndėrrojnė imazhin vendit. Rrugėt moderne tė Bregut, tė Sarandės, Gjirokastėrės, Korēės, Vlorės, Tepelenės, Lushnjės, Fierit, Peshkopisė, Kukėsit, Hasit dhe Tropojės, po rizbulojnė Shqipėrinė dhe fuqėsinė e saj magjepse turistike. Rezultati dihet. Nėse Shqipėria duhet tė shtrojė mė tė njėjtėn emergjencė si ēėshtjen e internetit nė shkolla, ashtu edhe ēėshtjen e modernizimit tė rrugėve qė tė ēojnė nė Kukės, Tropojė apo nė Vlorė e Sarandė, ky ėshtė njė ēmim qė tė gjithė ne po i paguajmė prapambetjes historike, por edhe keqqeverisjes sė mėparshme.

Investimet prej miliarda dollarėsh qė po kryen qeveria "Berisha", po na tregon tė gjithėve se Shqipėria nuk paska qenė kaq e varfėr sa dukej apo sa na kanė treguar. Mjafton tė ulėsh abuzimet e administratės, tė reduktosh korrupsionin, evazionet fiskale, etj., siē po bėn kjo qeveri, dhe Shqipėria mund tė prekė pėr tre-katėr vjet jo vetėm vendin e anėtarit me tė drejta tė plota nė NATO, jo vetėm kandidaturėn pėr nė BE, por edhe modernitetin.

Gjatė kėsaj pranvere mė ka qėlluar qė tė pėrshkoj bregdetin e Adriatikut nga Durrėsi deri nė Split. Vende si Mali i Zi apo Kroacia, ashtu si edhe Maqedonia nė Lindje, kanė trashėguar njė infrastrukturė rrugore mjaft tė mirė nga regjimi i kaluar. Shqipėria, duke trashėguar njė rrjet rrugor tė botės sė tretė, i pagoi njė ēmim zhvillimit tė saj, por ēdo e keqe e ka edhe njė tė mirė. Vendi ynė po ndėrton rrugėt mė tė mira nė Europėn Lindore, me standardet dhe teknologjinė mė tė lartė, duke lėnė pas me shpejtėsi vendet e rajonit.

Rrugėt pėrjetėsisht kanė qenė mbartėse tė modernitetit, zhvillimit, komunikimit tregtar dhe konkurrencės mes vendeve dhe kombeve.

Pėr fat tė keq, gjatė historisė, Shqipėria ka ardhur jo vetėm duke u ngushtuar e rrudhur, por edhe duke i humbur rrugėt e saj historike dhe bashkė me to edhe rolin e shqiptarėve nė rajon. Rruga e "Arbėrit", rruga "Egnatia", rruga e "Gjakovės", u tretėn nga harta ekonomike e vendit edhe pėr shkak tė gjymtimit qė pėsoi Atdheu ynė mė 1913.

Rruga Durrės-Prishtinė nuk do pyetje qė do tė nxisė zhvillimin dhe begatinė jo vetėm pėr kombin tonė, por edhe pėr rajonin. Kosova ka qenė pėrjetėsisht njė udhėkryq i karvaneve tregtare dhe ushtrive. Kryeministri Berisha njoftoi kėto ditė nga Shkodra se qeveria do tė investojė sė shpejti pėr rrugėn e quajtur "Adriatik-Alpe", qė lidh Shkodrėn me Gjakovėn pėrmes luginės sė Drinit.

Historikisht, nga Shkodra, njė shteg i vjetėr i karvaneve ndiqte gjurmėt e rrugėve tė ushtrive romake, dredhonte nėpėr malet e veriut pėr nė Kosovė, nėpėr degėn e Drinit tė Bardhė dhe arrinte deri nė Prizren. Sipas historianėve, "kjo e pati shndėrruar Prizrenin nė njė nga qendrat mė tė zhvilluar tregtare tė Kosovės e rajonit deri nė 1870, kur hekurudha lidhi qytetet e Kosovės me Selanikun". Prej Prizrenit, tregtarėt vazhdonin rrugėn nga Lindja pėr nė Nish, ku mund tė dilnin nė rrugėt qė lidhnin Beogradin, Sofjen dhe Konstadinopojėn.

Rruga tjetėr e lidhte Shkodrėn me Gjakovėn dhe anasjelltas, nėpėrmjet Tropojės, njė rrugė e pėrdorur pėrgjatė historisė qė kishte njė degėzim pėr nė Shėngjin, por edhe gjatė Luftės sė Dytė Botėrore, kur hapėsirat shqiptare qenė tė bashkuara pėr disa vite.

Pikėkthesa e shqiptarėve ka filluar mė 22 mars 1992, kur shteti i izoluar komunist u zėvendėsua nga shteti demokratik. Shqiptarėt, tė dalė nga diktatura e fortė, filluan tė kėrkonin identitetin e tyre politik nė konkurrencėn e popujve europianė, por edhe nė arkitekturėn e re tė sigurisė. Dalja e dytė e shqiptarėve nė konkurrencėn ekonomike tė rajonit, pėrmes rrugėve tė reja dhe turizmit, ėshtė hapi i dytė i madh.

Asnjė regjim, asnjė qeveri dhe ideologji ekonomike nuk synoi mė shumė se kjo e demokratėve tė kėtij brezi dhe e kėsaj qeverie pėr tė sjellė modernitetin. Njė infrastrukturė shpirtėrore po zėvendėson hamendjet pėr tė kaluar varfėrinė e maleve, qė pėr 6 muaj nė vit bllokohen nga akujt dhe dėbora. Shqipėria nuk mund tė ankohet pėrjetėsisht pėr veriun e varfėr dhe as tė pretendojė tė zbusė diferencat e zhvillimit ekonomik me asistenca sociale. Kėsaj treve tė rėndėsishme tė vendit i duhet krijuar mundėsia qė tė pėrdorė potencialet e veta, duke zhvilluar infrastrukturėn rrugore. Prej kėtej, shumė shpjet do tė shohin turizmin, pasuritė pėrpunuese dhe punėsimin. Nuk bėn mė qė njerėzit e kėtyre trevave tė braktisin ato hapėsira tė bukura pėr tė zbritur nė Tiranė, Lezhė apo nė Durrės vetėm pėr bukėn e gojės.

Ėshtė krejt e qartė se tė shpenzosh miliarda lekė nė vit pėr rrugėt, ėshtė njė guxim i kėtij vendi dhe i kėsaj qeverie, por guximi mbetet kushti i pėrparimit dhe modernitetit.

Wow! I wish this article were coming from the Government, but sounds only like wishful thinking atm
I so hope this dream comes true so one day we can live in our prospering Nation all together and United as we deserve!

Well the Shengjin port is not far away from the new highway to Kosova. I guess that will continue to be the main road for the Northeast of the country, since it passes through Kukes and Prizren, the two main cities of the area. All the other roads will be local, with hopefully a lot of connections to the highway.

But it is understandable, the NE is sparsely populated already, with little to no economic activity, it's really not viable to spend a lot of money for that area again. The road connecting Tetovo, Dibar in Macedonia with Peshkopi and then Tirana (the so-called Rruga e Arbrit) and the new Southern Corridor (Boshti i Jugut) which theoretically should make Tirana-Gjirokastra possible in about 2h30 are much more of a priority right now, and rightly so.

Berisha has talked also for this road(Shkodėr-Gjakovė) and for the railway that will link Tirana with Prishtina which have to start by the end of 2011.Some day both projects will be realised...the same like Durrės-Morinė which was planned since 1989 but construction started in 2006.Distance between Shkodėr and Kosova's port..Shėngjin is only 50 km.

I have to disagree with you!
I am referring to "Malesia e Gjakoves" plus Plave e Guci, with a poplation of a half million (half of which lives abroad atm), exactely because there are people who think just like you, a result of which, the region remained so poor until people started abandoning the place!
It is indeed an area with vast economical potential, rivers, high mountains, its rich biodiversity of fauna and flora that even Switzerland would envy having, as such, it deserves some attention after all!
Were talking of 50km of secondary regional road anyway! Albania can handle that much!

Crash barriers are one thing but more dangerous is this ambulant bazar directly beside of the road or direct exits leading to a gas station without separate lane to slow down safely.

Anyway it's better than nothing.

The road looks good though, it reminds me of those 4-lane US Highways. It even has shoulders. It's not a real motorway of course, but good for the job.

New bridge over "Buna" river..Shkodėr.It will subtitute the old one.This bridge will link Shkodėr with the border crossing point of Muriqan.It has a length of 275.5 meter and 13.5 meter wide two-way movement and two side sidewalks.
