"Richtgeschwindigkeit" should be the default system in all EU motorways & expressways & lane indiscipline should be harshly fought! Down with radars on motorways!

It would be nice for someone to post an accurate map, so people going to Albania & looking for expressways & motorways can plan their trip !

It's been said many pages back that the A1 motorway was completed all the way east to the Kosovo border. Is that true? Now that the motorway has begun appearing on maps, some show A1 ending near Kalimesh, with a lower quality road between Kalimesh and the Kosovo border. OSM suggests that SH 30 is the road east of Kalimesh.

What's the actual status between Kalimesh and Kosovo? Road types and designations?

SH30 is expressway... But is planned to be upgraded to motorway in the future. A1 is about 176km long but only 61km is full profile motorway. The motorway starts from western Albania and goes north east, not east. The first 3 sections in Kosovo are complete, these 3 first sections are 38kms long. The whole motorway will be about 290km long after all the sections in Albania are upgraded and the Prishtine- Merdare section is finalised.

I've seen a video of the eastern part of that road. It's a motorway up to Kukės, but then it's very curvy (mostly 2x2 lanes though) with some uncontrolled access but no traffic lights or roundabouts (mostly right-in, right-out access). I don't think it should be a motorway, the alignment just does not allow.

Does OSM show correctly the point where the motorway turns into the expressway?

Yes, the Kalimash interchange is the first junction without level separation, so the motorway ends here.

The motorway signs are located at these places:

6:39: "KOSOVĖ" instead of "PRISHTINĖ (RKS)" for instance ? Looks like a Spanish/Portuguese-style roadsign

Albanian landscapes are just breathtaking. And the road is really nice overall !

Thanks for the clarification of the extent of the A1 motorway.

Can most motorists read the tiny SH numbers on its green guide signs (if they wanted to) at motorway speeds?

Well spotted, sadly our Albanian compatriots in Albania do not know how to mark road signs. To start with, they made a mistake with choosing Italian motorways signs. Kosovo should be labeled (Prishtinė [RKS]) or (Morinė [RKS]).... This is the standard most of Europe uses. Last time I was in FYROM, it read something like (Pristina [KS]). I don't understand why it is difficult for Albania to standardise their signs. I think the scenery in Albania is truelly breathtaking!

BTW... Albania should take the Kosovo example... where the letters {ė} are also in use as well as the [AL] marking the country in which the respective cities are in.

I understand the letter "ė". But I don't understand what makes the other signs more special than the supposed "Italian-like signs". Is it a matter of color or font?

Its both the color and the font and everything pretty much, it seems to me that all Albanian road signs are cheap copies of those in Italy.

All road signs are capitals therefore disabling the possible use of Albanian letters such as {ė} and {ē}.

Ok the letter part was duly noted. But the rest is just a matter of "taste". There is no European standard for road signage.
And when it comes to taste Albania could use whatever taste it prefers. Right? The rest = color + font type.

You couldn't use TIRANĖ and ĒOROVODĖ as an example? Is there a rule in Albanian alphabet that you cannot use these letter in capital format?
