The mountain pass was rebuilt severel years ago. I have to look for the exact date, but when I drove there in October 2011, it was already finished. But just the part until Lin (after crossing the pass and reaching the shore of Lake Ohrid). The whole part along Lake Ohrid was very bad (like SH4 over Ballsh) and is still bad although construction works started in spring this year. But they are not finished.

And that pictures of that wonderful road you posted (and many times before) don't show that bad part but the already rebuilt part of the mountain pass (most like it was rebuilt in 2011).

Road from Lin to Pogradec is under construction (and currently terrible) and from Pogradec to Leshnicė (direction Korce) is not under construction and it's bad.

Oh but we are concerned abouth them. What we are not is rules and our lives and that results in so many incidents and deaths.

I've found two pictures from September showing the condition of that part between Memalj and Tepelena:

Unfortunately what stickedy is saying is true but the good news is that heavy machines and many workers were working on that part a few days ago. If they keep working that way i hope it will be finished soon.....as for the road Lin- Pogradec...well....nobody is working there so i guess it`s gonna be like that for a while

Tirane-Elbasan recent photos / update - cost 450 milion euros

Some recent photos from the Tirana elbasan motorway being constructed in Albania .

Elbasan the fourth biggest city of Albania will be literally only 20 minutes away from the capital of Albania , with the completion of this 35 km motorway stretch ( which includes a 2,4 km tunnel ) .

Prior to the opening of the Tunnel , you had to take the mountainouns national road which would take you around 2 hours and 70 kms of very curvy mountainous roads .

The economical benefits are huge , since Elbasan will be practically a neighborhood of Tirana , and Durres ( the second biggest city , and the main port of albania ) will be closer than ever to Elbasan or said otherwise aproximately 1 hour or less , in comparison to 3 or even 4 hours that you needed before .

This is also because Tiranas citys ringroad is being costructed as well , and most of the streches have been opened for circulation .

To say it more simply - 1,8 milion inhabidants/consumers/businesses that these 3 cities together have , will be a maximum 1 hour drive

Entering Tirana from north

A random video , showing the route en Tirana .

Tirana starts actually at 1,03 minutes .

Prior to that is Kamza city , an informal city that developed informaly after Comunism did fell . But it has gotten so big that it has touched Tirana .

That's good for Memaliaj-Tepelene. It's a pity for Lin-Pogradec. Nice lake, interesting for tourism... and a way to Korce - Greece.

Those roads from Jogrucat and Valona to Saranda (curvy and narrow, being built by Italians 80 yrs ago) are the biggest problem for tourism in that area.
One day, with completed motorway to Valona, and with new or reconstructed road to Saranda, more and more tourists will come from abroad.

I agree that Italians in 10 years build more than turks in 500 years, but not the section you are talking about.

14.53

Italians opened also the what is known today as the road of riviera, but not the whole road.

Narrow and curvy roads in good condition is not the major obstacle for tourism. It could even be a benefit (see Amalfi coast).

Nice video. They don't take it serious with road markings in Albania?

National TV of Albania, (TVSH) said yesterday on news there are some "more" problems on "Arbėri road" it will take more time ... it was also a short documentary but due to technical problems they couldn't show it. So anyone know whats going on with "Rruga e Arbėrit" ?
