DERBY | Projects & Construction

Derby believe it or not has some money being spent on it, its nearly xompleted its new shopping center, and its spending 100 million on doing up its decrepid bus station with bars clubs and restaurants.

ill try and post the devlopments when i hav emore time...

philos33 - Great to see that Derby now has a thread, & that all 3 East Midland cities are active.

Can you tell Westfield to finish things up on that fancy looking shopping centre so that they can finally get started on our struggling, on it's last limb, Broadmarsh shopping centre.

Aside from people wanting to be proven wrong about Derby being an ugly place, it's great to see a thread started for it. It's also nice to hear that there's plans in motion for the city, hopefully it will work wonders and catch up with Leicester and Nottingham in the future.

Derbyshire is, afterall, one of the most beautiful counties in the UK!

I was wondering why Derby had no thread, especially with the shopping centre development, etc. At least all the major East Midlands city have a thread each now.

Is the shopping centre development to replace the Eagle Centre? i was in Derby a couple of years ago and thought this really let the city down.

Also, is there any kind of plan to finish off the renovation works at the rail station?

Its really good that Derby has its own thread on here now, maybe (god forbid..hehe) if we all cooperate, the East Mids can get a strong voice on skyscrapercity.

Here are some renders of the £340 million Eagle Centre...

Apologies a couple of them are small...i cant find any larger ones right now!

That does look impressive, i'll have to visit when its completed and compare it to the utter disappointment that stood there before it! Is the Cock Pitt car park still there

What are the main anchor store(s) in the new centre? And is the centre an extension to the old centre or was that demolished to be completely rebuilt?

Just another question, is the name going to stay the same?

I think its an extension...its not completely rebuilt... the rest of the centre has remained open during construction. I went there last month.

I don't know anything about the Anchor stores though.
