No idea. I visited the area a few days back, and while work on the underpass was progressing rapidly, there was little or no progress on the RUB Probably another instance of lack of coordination with/cooperation by the railways

last link

That is the last link in ORR of bangalore. That will reduce traffic in vijayanagar chord road, and even goodshed road. RUB/ROB is the last link.

Railway ministry is always unfair to karnataka, state governments should be given stake and say in Indian Railways. Though our govt sponsors half of all projects they dont get stake in IR. A pil should do.

Puttenahalli underpass concrete slab is over. Now wide enough for 2 way simultaneous travel on top of underpass. So puttenahalli main road is now free.
But i'm not sure they removed support pillars under the slab. Opening outer ring road will take months.

Advantage for underpasses over flyovers as former can be partially opened early.

Anybody knows on Kadirenahalli underpass??

Puttenahalli underpass thrown open to traffic

Work will go on for 3 more months...
http://www.thehindu.com/2010/05/03/s...0361510400.htm
Quote:
Bangalore:Finally, there is light at the end of the tunnel for residents of J.P. Nagar, Puttenahalli, Kothanur and surrounding areas.

For, the overpass on 24 {+t} {+h} Main at J.P. Nagar was thrown open to traffic by Minister for Transport R. Ashok on Sunday even as the work on the underpass is continuing.

The Puttenahalli underpass is being built on J.P. Nagar 15 {+t} {+h} Cross, which intersects 24th Main and the Ring Road.

The Rs. 23-crore project was taken up about three years ago to ease traffic flow from the southern reaches of the city.

Work on the project, which was supposed to be completed in February 2009, is going on at a snail's pace.

PRR update

Guys any news about a project called PRR ? I beleive this was proped almost 8 years back.I know that the land has been notified but how can such a project be having no updates.

They said BDA will execute then it was NHAI and finally PPP model.

Its pretty crucial to connect Phase 1 - Tumkur road to hosur road via bellary road for the complete loop along with the NICE corridor.

The last I heard, BDA was supposed to be having negotiation with NICE about buying a Km of Road to connect the PRR with the NICE road. They are now goiing to only make the semicircle from Tumkur road to Bellary road and then to Hosur Road. At last some sanity has prevailed. Also, there were some private biggies like Reliance, Soma, Nagarjuna etc bidding for the project. I dont know why NICE is not in it. Strange.

Thats a good news.I personally dont agree for another ring road parallel to NICE and at so short distance. This can happen only if some politicians prefer it to debacle the earnings of the NICE corridor by wasting public money and at a cost of many poor farmers.

Its better for PRR implementations for NICE to not interfear else it will be in a fight for another decade over selfish financial and political motives.

I did have a look at the budget paper from BDA for 2010 t0 2011.The status for PRR was that BDA spend 50,000 rupees for PRR (so far)and a loan of 700 crores for acquiring land has been unutilized as farmers are rejecting to the offer.

I wonder under such circumstances how do the govt approaches legally on completing the project. Its to be noted that tehy current state of project is that only land has been surveyed and notified , but not acquired.

NICE itself is called PRR.. But NICE badly wants to connect to new airport road from tumkur road, govt can strike a deal for something in return.

As far as i Know, there have been some legal changes in this aspect. No body can refuse to give away the land for public projects. However, the compensation amount can be contested. I am not entirely sure on the legal ramifications. But I think it is something like, there wont be endless stay orders of the court asking the government not to touch the land and to maintain status quo etc.

Exactly. This section, if completed, will provide quick and convenient access from BIAL to BIEC (Bangalore International Exhibition Centre) on Tumkur Road). NICE could be awarded this stretch as well, as a continuation of the existing Hosur Road - Tumkur Road PRR.

If the Govt is sitting on such major projects for decades especially on such initiatives then its very bad.
If the current governence thats been elected for the first time in the south cant do anything then its little that can be expected from others. Its only PPP not even a govt funded project and i wonder why we have politicians and burocrats for .....

I Managed to get a bit of information on Land aquasition for Infrastructur e projects. The govt can do this under "karnataka land acquisition act .

It seems that lately farmers went to supreme court and questioned acquiring > 3000 acres of land around bangalore under karnataka land acquisition act.The Supreme court says to the karnataka Govt "Why havent u changed the act for >100 years(this happened last week in SC)" and the Govt now needs to change the land acquisition act before acting on the Aquasitions for any Project.

I wonder how they are fooling people with such acts all this time and running this country on british rules.

An RUB under construction, just beyond the junction. This is the reason behind the Nagarbhavi-Nayandahalli section of the road remaining closed. Delays in obtaining clearence from the railways stalled work for a long time. The Bangalore-Mysore railway line is visible on top of the RUB.

This culvert separates the service road of the ORR from Mysore Road. It will require a bridge across before this can be opened to traffic.

The RUB continues into an underpass. This is the view from the railway tracks, facing Magadi Road.

Work in progress on the underpass.

The underpass is a long one. The cylindrical structures on top are ventilation ducts.

Looking back at the entrance to the underpass from the Magadi Road side.

Whats the progress now? From feb to may.. Lord of the ring roads completion when?
