All those Bridges are still in Lagos. They are not in the best state, but they are still intact. Provided the Government can revamp them, and build more bridges/highways to compliment the existing ones, then Nigeria will be on the fast path again.

Lagos to Reconstruct Major Roads

Quote:
08.20.2007

Lagos state government has finalised arrangement forthe reconstrution of 50 major roads spread across thethree senatorial districts in the state.
The road reconstruction exercise is in tandem with the continuation of the ten-point agenda of the State Government to raise human development index by pursuing plans, programmes and projects which have positive and direct impact on the lives of the people.
Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure to the state governor, Engr Ganiyu Johnson who made this known at the weekend in Ikeja said to this end the state Government has called for tenders for the construction/reconstruction/rehabilitation of the road projects.
He listed some of the road projects toinclude Ajangbadi-IIogbo-Elegba road in Ojo Local Government; Association Avenue (Governor’s Road), Idimu; Samuel Ekundayo Road, Badagry; Alexander Road, Oko-Oba, Agege; Dendeke Martins Street, Ilaje, Bariga; Ijede-Egbin Road and Fadungbade Close, Ikorodu; Satellite Town Road, Amuwo-Odofin; and network of road at Magodo Estate (Olumiywa Street, Kola AmoduCrescent, Duruji Way, Ogunnaike Close).
Others according to Johnson include Interstate Boundary Roads (Ayobo-Aiyetoro Road), Ayobo; Modupe Ayo-Ade Street off Abeokuta Oshodi Expressway, Araromi Bus/Stop; Shitta Street/Shitta Extension, Agege among others.

Does anyone have a picture of that huge flyover on the way to Paarl in Cape Town? I'm not sure what it's called but gosh it's scary going over there in a bus!

Abooja, Nigeria.

Bikers seem to enjoy the express lanes.

I think that Durban and Abuja have very good highways. Kenya has been trying to catch up but it will take as a while to even come close to SA which has and continues to invest in roads. Kenya was basically stagnant for 27 year or dictator Arap Moi's rule but major improvements have happened since President Kibaki was elected. I think that if we continue the trend, we should see a Kenya with worldclass roads in 10 years or less considering how well we have done in five years. I am not too worried about a change of goverment.

Abuja (Lagos to a certain degree if the roads are not congested) and SA certainly have smooth highways. I would also add Abidjan (despite the political and economic setback of the country in the past ten years, you can still see that the country once rocked economically)

Correct me if Im wrong. Most of Abidjan's infrastructure was built after the colonial period.
