Two weeks ago it looked almost finished. The variable overhead signs are installed both between Waldhaff and tunnel Stafelter and in the cut near Stafelter. Currently work is going on at the provisional end of A7 at Waldhaff to connect the new stretch and adapt the exit. I guess ground markings are also not yet painted. But looks good for an opening early next year as planned.

Is there some particular reason for this highway gap on A13?

Seems so odd... couple hundred meters not going through built-up area, or water body.

They will finally begin construction there very soon. It was held up by a farmer who didn't want to sell its land, and apparently couldn't be expropriated easily.

It's a funny bit of road. Coming from Germany there is a matrix sign stating perpanently in German that the motorway is about to end. Staugefahr! But there is never any traffic.

The 'aire de Berchem' along A3 is the highest volume fuel station in the world. They sell over 300 million liters of fuel every year (80% diesel). That amounts to more than 40 tanker shipments per day. I wonder if these fuel stations have a private pipeline to supply them. Shipping that amount by truck is impractical. Especially because the 'aire de Capellen' along A6 likely has a similar volume of fuel.

“Nordstrooss” to open September 2015

Infrastructure Minister Bausch also outlined a number of other high priority projects, such as the six-lane expansion of the A3, as well as the so-called “Liaison Micheville” between Esch/Belval and the French border.

Luxembourg is now available on Google Street View. Imagery is old, though (2009).

Last friday Junglinster bypass opened for traffic. This bypass is part of the N11 route between Luxembourg-City and Echternach.

A7 Nordstrooss

The missing link of A7 around Luxembourg (city) opens to traffic tomorrow. This is really a game-changer in regional mobility. North-south traffic can now bypass the urban area of Luxembourg. The current routes to A7 are circuitous and run across city streets not meant for so much traffic.

I got the idea that in Germany they use to be very slow when building new motorways, but 12 years to finish a 8.5 km stretch has to be very rare. God, I remember travelling to Luxembourg as a kid in 2004, 2005 and there were already significant works in the main tunnel Finally, finally!
