That is a big difference between the planning of new industrial areas in Himachal and Uttrakhand. While the latter is one well planned with marked zones for industries, be it light medium or heavy, with all the adequate infrastructure provided, Himachal's is an example of how it shouldn't be done at all. That is a disaster for all the eco-system of the lower belt of HP and a nightmare for the industrialists and the residents alike. No infrastructure, no rail connectivity, poor roads, no zoning, only better electricity situation. Sigh!

Gujju Bhai, what is that white stuff in the river in the May 2010 image ? And is that the Sardar Patel Stadium to the west of the river ?

White stuff is reflection of sunlight off water ripples/sheen of riverbed in parts where water level is low. If you zoom in on google earth/maps you can see it more clearly.
Both cricket stadiums in Ahmedabad are named after Sardar Patel, this is the one in Navrangpura. The other one, in Motera is where the match between India and Australia in the WC was played. Just to the north of what is seen in these images, |

Most of the best cities in the world have a beautiful river front. Sabarmati river front should look good. Hope they do something similar for Mithi river in Mumbai.
