The Zalaegerszeg-Hodos line was rebuilt in 2001(it was dismantled in 1980), electrified in 2008 and features ETCS L1 signalling(being upgraded to ETCS L2). Nowadays the line is mainly used by freight traffic.

Trains aren't very frequent at some places, but if you can arrange your schedule, I would recommend them, because railways are scenic. They aren't fast, but it's a small country anyway (low speed is more of a problem for regular and transit users than tourists).

^ There have been almost no improvements on our railways for decades. The last 20 years were focused on building motorways. The main motorways are now more or less built, so I hope there will be more money dedicated to railways.

The project is projected to be completed by the end of 2015, which seems to be the fact that the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning has already signed a number of major contracts with a total value of around 220 million euros, according to which works are carried out and some had already been completed, even real.

Regulation of the national spatial plan for the electrification and reconstruction of railway lines Pragersko-Hodos was is published in July 2009 and so far it has completed the first stage of upgrading the rail line between Pragersko and Murska Sobota and upgrading of border stations Hodos, in its final stage, according to the Ministry of execution passive noise protection.

Currently ongoing second phase Pragersko-Murska Sobota, the construction of the foundations and the catenary masts, and the construction of noise barriers, the reconstruction of stations Ptuj, Ivanjkovci, Liverpool(Ljutomer) and the reconstruction of the track before Ormož and Ivanjkovci.

Place it in public procurement, and some are in their final stages for the construction of five sub-stations, to perform reconstruction in Pavlovci and station in Murska Sobota and the retrofitting of six major steel bridges in the preparation phase, the call for the implementation of the electrification of the entire route from Pragersko to Hodos .
