Will there be any regular Slovenia-Hungary passenger services on the newly refurbished line? If yes then what kind?

There already is a daily Ljubljana-Budapest train that runs on that railway. There might be changes in the future, but they'll happen with the timetable change in December and aren't publicly available yet.

The "Citadella" train pair Budapest - Ljubljana and vice versa are now scheduled for electric loco operation through from Ljubljana to Hodos, where a Hungarian electric loco takes over.
However the electrical power supply to the railway is not yet completed, due to legal and environmental issues. So there is no immediate prospect of all the diesel-hauled freight services going over to electric traction, because of the high electric current drawn by heavy freight trains.
The summer dated overnight services from Budapest start running very soon, so we shall see whether they will be diesel or electric hauled.

So it's not truly functional. Disappointing... Is the infrastructure likely to be finished and switched fully to electric services within a year or so?

Jeff Hawken is talking about the section between Murska Sobota and Mačkovci (~15 km). It can already be used by electric trains, but only one train at a time. I don't know when they will fix this problem.

Is this a French CC-6500 (or similar) by any chance? The "nez cassé" design is so characteristic

Thanks so much. The Nez Cassé design is so unique that almost impossible not to recognize it.

I was aware of Portugal designing Nez Cassés but not Slovenia. Appreciated

Beginning of modernization of 26 km of railway between Zidani Most and Celje (railway Ljubljana-Maribor). Costs are estimated at 282 million euros, of which 91 million come from the EU. Permeability will increase from 328 to 354 trains a day, and it will become suitable for 22.5 t. It should be completed in 2020.

Will the alignment remain as today (thus as built in 18xx), or will curves be straightened to raise speeds?

It will remain almost the same as built in 1849, with only minor curve straightenings.

What can I expect this summer on the Villach-Bled section and the Bled-Ljubjana section?
Both frequency/train stock/cost info would be nice!

Both cities look absolutely stunning (nature/culture resp.)

Ljubljana - Jesenice, 40-50 freigt trains per day (SŽ541, SŽ363, OBB1216), 60 passenger trains per day (SŽ342, SŽ312).

Jesenice-Bled-Nova Gorica - diesel only, less traffic. Freight trains SŽ664, OBB2016, passenger SŽ813/814.

For trainspotting is Koper - Divača the best place to visit.
