Looks to be a very interesting project.

At first I though they had brought up the old World View Tower sites with parcel K but that is over rail tracks to the west. Still correct me but isn't parcel K the Holsum Lofts?

Parcel J is also interesting, they could build a very high profile building on that triangle.

Edit: google street view is pretty sueful for this stuff, that is Holsum Lofts. I remember wacthing planning meetings for the world view towers and they (holsum) were always there as a nimby in opposition. It would be ironic if they were simply bought out this time by the pulse project and consequently become a tower themselves in the process.

New story in the news about it.

Backers of a proposed sports arena in downtown Las Vegas overcame a potential deal-killer Wednesday when a little-known state review panel upheld a plan to allow casinos as part of the project.

$10.5 Billion!!!??? Yikes!!! That's way more expensive than CityCenter which is currently the most expensive privately funded project ever in the US. I heard that there's some secret billionaire partner on this project, but they're keeping his name secret. Oscar said they showed him the money, so he's sold.

An article in the Sun today speculating they might flip the land out from under this project. Pure speculation, though.

A much better plan for a new sports arena in Las Vegas has just been announced. Harrah's entertainment is planning to build a 22,000-seat arena south of the Westin Casuarina and east of Bally's.

An article in the Sun says the developer is having trouble landing loans and is going to ask for a 3rd delay. The city is only going to give them until February and in the mean time they are going to open negotiations with a different developer who proposed an arena and a 124 story hotel near city hall.

I've known about this for quite a while, while Pulse was nice, it was way too far fetched in scope.

I heard this super tower's developers say they do have the money and will make it happen. They are 2nd in line after Pulse if that falls through. Heights are sure to be easier to get in the City as well.

Tall as it is, it will be nowhere near Pulse's $10B at all.

I didn't realize this before, but according to this Globest.com story, the 12 acre site by City Hall was part of the REI agreement and that's why they wouldn't let other developers bid on it once they chose REI. But now they are saying that they are going to separate the 12 acre site from that agreement and allow other non-arena developers to negotiate for that site, which I hope means the people with the 124-story hotel plan will be able to proceed even if Pulse is built.
