The signage is very German, what is a good thing, since German signage is the best in my opinion.

Gas stations are normally placed on each side of the highway in intervals of between 80-100 kilometers along each national highway. There is normally things like bathrooms, restaurants etc to enable long distance travelers to unwind.

Among all English-speaking countries (besides UK), South Africa has the most European-looking motorway signs. Hey, if the USA switched to metric units and European signage, I would agree to learn to drive on the left

After FIFA 2010 World Cup, its transport infrastructure would have seen an injection of well over $15 billion. Some of the high profile transport projects includes : -

- $3.5 billion for the rapid rail link connecting Airport, Johannesburg, Pretoria
- $3 billion upgrades on airports including OR Tambo, Cape Town and a new airport for Durban
- $3 billion is going into widening and connecting more highways in Johannesburg
- $1 billion subsidy for mini-bus taxi re-capitalization nationwide
- $1 billion for Bus Rapid Transit systems in most host cities
- $3 billion for upgrading Metro rail systems country wide

The best motorways in Africa, very impressive!
Are they ever going to finish that big viaduct going into Cape Town CBD?

I would say they have actually been abandoned. The reason for this, i really still don't know exactly. They have been like that since i have known Cape Town.

Highway close to my former school (University of Cape Town). I used to walk on the walkway where you see some students going to upper campus.
