I thought they need to dig a big hole before they put up a crane? No digging has taken place. Is something different happening here? (no hole?)

I am looking forward to this one. I'd love to see hundreds of such red brick aA buildings (the podium part only here) filling in parking lots, plazas etc along Toronto's ex-urbs--for example, driving up Bathurst, Dufferin, Dupont etc. Such beautiful red brick and detail would continue the red brick tradition that went on hiatus c.1950s Toronto.

Some of the most overpriced to location units I've ever seen.
People have paid through their nose to live next to a rail mainline and public housing (on both sides) |

True.
But the southwestern view is going to be of the gorgeous aA-designed Pier27/Waterlink complex, which almost makes it worthwhile. Unlike the Pier 27 folk, residents here will be right across the street from the SLM and minutes to Union Stn. |

For some reason I never really expected this one would go up. It is motoring along quickly now....

I think it was always 46 storeys. It'll be about 150 metres which is quite significant for this area.

It was originally proposed at 46 storeys. The city/developer settled for 33 storeys including shorter ceiling heights. The tower (still a parking lot if I may add) is now 109 metres.

It was originally 46 storeys (146m) but was shortened to 33 storeys (109m) back in April of 2008 in response to opposition from the neighbourhood. You can see the details here: http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2...file-12491.pdf

33 storeys (109m) is now the final? If so I will change the title of the thread.

So what if many/most of the thread titles have incorrect stats. Just look at the Daily Commercial News which charges a subscription fee. Same with Emporis. All SSC needs to do is to pilfer Solaris and gloried UT will be just as out-of-touch.
