Ok one change I've noticed....now the simple "services" signs have been replaced by more American looking signage showing the actual retail/restaurants available. Definitely a +1.

M40

Time for a quick rest.

In my opinion, which probably would have been shared by all those, who use this interchange, it qualifies to more than urgent reconstruction into a free flow junction, at least Newbury-West Midlands direction, if not whole. It generates hard to describe jams in peak times and queues spread for several miles on both A34 and M40. I, off course, realize that it's not an exception in Britain, however it serves one of the busiest HGV's corridor connecting Southern sea ports with Birmingham.

Thanks for watching.

That A34 jct should have been made folly grade separated in the first place. It's a major headache getting onto the M40 from the A34 (or at least was).

A44 Worcester-Leominster (part 1)

In about 0:50 you may see how an elderly driver is negotiating a sharp bend. This short movie has been filmed with my second, compact camera, so the quality isn't too high. I also haven't recorded music yet, because my son, who is responsible for that, met some problems with installing hearable bass track (whatever it means) to his songs.

This change was mainly due to the fact that the operators of services in the UK are so unpopular they try to avoid using their own names. Many signs only show the names of the shops within the services. You will now see a Costa M&S services without mention of the true operator. High prices and awful food quality have ruined the reputation of all operators despite frequent name changes.

I'd still prefer if they'd put the name of the petrol stations on the signs, like they do in France, Germany and Netherlands. I've got fuel cards, and I can only use a chosen few.
Not that it matters to me anymore, I know where they all are in the UK anyway...

The lowest of them all, Little Chef (they sell disgusting offal at £10 a meal ), were sold for under £200k per outlet during the summer. Little Chef will still continue to sell overpriced offal to the UK travelling public, don't you worry.

Out of interest, do you still have to go into the petrol/gas station and pay for petrol/gas in the UK or are there now options to pay at the pump? I've been away for 11 years, but the pumps look pretty much the same as they did from Google Street View so I suspect nothing has changed?

They've gone bust three times in the last few years and now have very few outlets left (thankfully!). If they were the worst it would be ok, but overpriced, overcooked food is still a feature of UK service areas. The only exception to this is the services on the M6 at Westmorland which is run by a local company rather than the usual private equity owned disaster areas.

Pay at pump hasn't really taken off in the UK apart from truckstops with specialist pumps for diesel cards. They are at some supermarkets and possibly some service areas but you have to go into the shop to get your chocolate, newspaper and a wetsuit (not joking there).

Yeah. I suppose people combine the fill up with grabbing a paper & a snack. I prefer to pay at the pump though - much quicker, apart from the annoying "would you like to buy a car wash?" thing.

The only petrol station I knew of back home with the option to pay at the pump was in Telford town centre when I worked there back in 2000.
