British country side, part one :)

Actually, this video starts at M5 J5 near Droitwitch and ends up in Woofferton near Ludlow. It covers short stretch of A38 and A4133, then joins A443 in Great Witley and continues to Newham Bridge where it merges with A456. Then follows up to the destination. The map attached to the video is wrong, realized too late to mend it.

Mersey Gateway

The tolls on the Mersey Gateway project will be 2 pounds (both on the new bridge and the existing Silver Jubilee Bridge).

What do you think? Reasonable? Too expensive? Will you avoid it?

It would be hard to avoid the tolls here, because there are no reasonable alternatives. Yes you can drive through Warrington or even on M6, but you probably pay more for petrol than you save on tolls that way.

@ Chris what is the route of the new Mersey Bridge? £2 isn't too bad if it will save time and gas money.

Runcorn - Widnes, east of the existing bridge. They layout is pretty clearly marked on OSM.

The worst thing is that the existing bridge is currently free, but will be tolled after the new bridge opens.

It is a relatively poor area so £2 is quite a lot for locals. However, there is a scheme where residents can get 25 free trips per month, for a £10 annual charge.

www.merseygateway.co.uk/im-a-halton-resident/

If they didn't charge for the old bridge, the new bridge would have hardly anyone using it.

Only if they did charge for the new bridge...

The Mersey Tunnels are £1.60 to cross the river.

25 free trips per month is a bit weird - it's not enough for regular return commuting.

I suppose that's to deter people from still using the old bridge and thus, avoiding the toll.

On another note and since Merseyside has a tunnel that's also tolled, perhaps some sort of electronic system similar to that of the Florida SunPass here would be a more economical means of collecting toll money. They could call it ScousePass

That has to be the coolest McDonald's I've ever seen.

Nice shots of the A406. Look more Americanized than I remember. I've also been to that Ikea . Isn't it one of the oldest in Britain?

Catshill(M5)-Clee Hill-Ludlow

Here are both parts of my countryside trip from Catshil near Bromsgrove to Ludlow. This time I went through an area of outstanding beauty called Clee Hills.

I'm not sure if I had a chance to post these shots before.
Anyway here they are, roads of Lake District, which are some of the most scenic in the UK

According to some members of SABRE, some preparatory works on A8 in Glasgow and A1 in North Yorkshire have started.

Are we getting closer to a point where UK's network won't expand?

So far we have A1, A8 upgrades and perhaps M4 Toll in Newport.

It has always been close to a point where the UK 's network won't expand. Apart from a few upgrades, new infrastructure has been in decline for decades.
