Doesn't Portsmouth City Council paint giveway lines like this:

========¦
¦
¦

rather than

=======¦-------
¦
¦
?

I think I saw that in Portsmouth, and I've not seen it elsewhere in the UK.

Thank you Piotr for the pics from the Portsmouth's Park&Ride. Such a good inspiration for Bratislava, which is intending to build similar Park&Ride amenities. I wanted to go there by myself and make some pics, now I don't need to

If I get it right the A465 is going to be an expressway. It will feature 2 carriageways (4 lanes) and will be access-controlled and grade-separated, ain't it?

Yes, however no hard-shoulder.

Cool. People now have a choice to use either lane 3 or 4. Bloody lane hoggers in that country, they still can't get it right.

We should swap driving population with America where everyone sticks to the left most lanes

Lane discipline is a bit hard to judge from a photo. Yes, vehicles are over all lanes, but if they are driving the speed limit there's little problem except for those who want to drive substantially faster than most other traffic. Many Dutch consider British drivers to be very courteous, from what I've read.

Yes, they are the most courteous drivers in Europe, this is true. They are always polite enough to slow down or stop to let you through (often leading to congestion though)

But they are also among the worst disciplined drivers when it comes to lane behavior.

Maybe it would be easier to make a judgement watching this:

You don't expect that from HGV's. They're normally professional drivers even in the UK...

Tbh the road does go back down to 3 lanes pretty soon, if you do pull in the car drivers will not let you out again. Lane discipline down there is very poor tho.

I have a motorbike here in the UK and generally I can say that drivers are okay. The majority at least - although the one and only time that I was knocked from a car in my life happened here (his fault, he paid, but the bike total wreck).

Anyway, I wanted to ask. Why are white lines elevated?
