Good to hear! Where are you working? I start my second week at work (internship) and have also had very little sleep. I moved house yesterday.

I'm genuinely too embarrassed to say as it is about as far from the profession I have been educated in as you can get (read - call centre).

On the plus side the offices are on the higher floors of one of Manchester's most notorious landmarks. The views are amazing, will that be enough to stop me falling asleep? Who knows!

Stick in there, mate. I did the same until I moved to London. I am still waiting on the elusive architecture/ property development job as well although my current job is much better paid and construction related.

That's why I keep a stash of beers under my bed (or in your case, it should be biscuits).

I've given up on the job-hunting front. I think I'm just being too restrictive with the hours and days that I can work, and it's not attractive to any employers. I'm going to look at doing some volunteering or something. I don't really care about being paid - I just want something to fill that large time gap in my CV now.

But you're back at uni? You're not in a gap.

Yeh but I want there to at least be a little something to account for the summer break. It's frustrating that so many of my coursemates managed to go back to their old jobs or find new jobs over summer (some of which were bloody well paid) and I couldn't even manage to get a flipping cleaning job. But life goes on, I guess.

Forget it. It isn't worth the stress. Future employees won't give the slightest shit what you did between 1st and 2nd year of uni. If you have to explain it say you went travelling.

Just been told by my mum that my cat of 14 years has cancer.

It's injection site sarcoma and is apparently caused by certain vaccinations. It's very aggressive and usually spreads. Prognosis is anything from 1 month to 6.

I'm totally devastated. After the past few months my family has had now the icing on the cake of shitness.

I remember when we first got her fitting into the palm of my hand. She is so loving and will be sorely missed.

I hate it when Pets go that way, I lost my dogs recently so I know how you feel. At my mums where I lived though we have a Cat, and I know she can't have many years left Had her since she was 8 weeks old.

That sucks.

When my dog of 12 years died in July 2009 it was actually very shit. I hate to say it, but I've been less upset over deaths of friends and relatives. In 2006 our St Bernard died suddenly aged only 3 years old.

Not quite on the same level... Last night we found one of our chickens lying dead. So my brother and were out in the garden at 11pm with a torch and a spade digging a grave. In retrospect we shouldn't have picked the middle of the lawn, site of a former rock garden.

Sorry to hear that P. its amazing how attached we get to family pets. I remember how upset I was when the dogs I grew up with passed away some years back. its one of the reasons I dont really want to have another pet - although I would say the happiness they bring outweighs the sadness when you lose them.

I know it's nowhere near as bad as what my step-dad is going through. But after me having to leave my flat because of awful shit, my step sis going, and now my poor cat.

My mum is inconsolable. I just hope I'll be able to get back home when it's time.

Mrs Jonesy's stepfather has just been diagnosed with cancer, it has metastasised and is present in bone, liver and pancreas so there is basically no hope, would be nice if he could hang on until his birthday in December...

^ Bad times.

I know my cat having cancer is totally insignificant when dealing with a relation. Which is why its hard for me to express how gutted I am around my step dad whose daughter he buried last week.

Injection site sarcomas are very aggressive and the lump came up in a couple of weeks and is already big. She won't last very long.

Thanks. We got her when i was 16. She is a very happy, unbelievably loving cat (to the point of being annoying). She is a scaredy cat and gets bullied by the bigger cats. She lets you hold her like a baby. Loves getting groomed. She dribbles when she's happy and constantly purrs. She was the quietest cat in the litter and that's why I chose her.

She also has a stupid name - cat cat because we couldn't decide on what to call her so ended up with cat.

It's different but it's still upsetting, I remember when our first cat died I was distraught.

On a more positive note our current cat Tinkerbell celebrated her 10th birthday at the weekend!

Happy birthday Tinkerbell.

The next time you take her to the vet for injections ask about injection site sarcomas.
