In Islington around Upper Street or somewhere in the borough of Islington? Residential streets sometimes have reasonable prices. I lived near Archway and it was something around £2 an hour, but they only charged for 4 hours a day and not on weekends.

We will check it out. Otherwise we will use Westfield Stratford (fiver a day). Under normal circumstances we would of course be using the train, however we will be lugging desktop computers around.

I always park at the Broadwalk Centre in the commuters car park in Edgware when I go to London. It's on the Northern Line and runs past Angel station. It's £4 for the day. If you stay overnight you just pay another £4. It's also a 30 second walk to Edgware Station so it's ideal for you and your heavy luggage.

In fact come to think of it, there are car parks at the N1 centre and Business design centre in the middle of Angel (entrances are about 50 metres apart) as well as (the last time I was there) a derelict site on the same back street (Parkfield St) used as a car park

on the contrary, British car brands tend to dominate the luxury market - bentley, rolls royce, Austin Martin to name a few.
also, Britain was the only country to have a Japanese car manufacturer who exported theirs cars made outside of Japan back into Japan - Nissan sunderland plant was the source and is the most efficient car plant in Europe.

He's Russian...what do you expect. They're a very rude people and clearly jealous of our luxury car makers. The best they have is Lada

Had to take a days leave today to drop and collect octo junior from school while my wife was away. Decided to make it useful by getting all sorts of shit done like taxing the car, repairing the back gate etc.
This is the first time I have been off work on a weekday without going away somewhere for a couple of years. Aren't towns weird places in weekdays? Totally different feel. Loads of old people and buggy pushing mums. Eerily quiet. My local town centre is so rammed at the weekend I had forgotten it could be any other way. It's like the twilight zone.

It's been a totally knackering day for me (almost fell asleep at my desk again) and now I have my tax return to look forward to when I get home. Zzzzz...

I've done something awful. I have a take no prisoners approach to a clear out, often ploughing everything in sight into the bin, asking questions later. Only the question now appears to be - where the hell are my Grandad's memoirs which were in my possession?? I've searched high and low and I can only find the last few chapters.
Having read them I don't think any of his children would particularly care, he wasn't a wonderful father from what I could tell. He left my dad and my uncle to be raised by his mother-in-law as he lived it up, swanning around the country conning people and on stage in the provincial entertainment industry. My Dad's mentioned him about twice in the past 20 years. But nevertheless he was a colourful character, an antidote to the upright image of war time and post war Britain. He proudly details how he got out of his war-time duties by stripping naked, walking into Exeter railway station and pretending to have a fugue, and goes into wince inducing detail describing his promiscuity. I feel awful. I don't know whether I should tell my family that I've lost them or whether I should let the years cloud the memory that I ever had them. I think whatever I do I should write down everything I remember from them as soon as possible. |
