In answer to my own question, a decision about the scheme should be made within the next three months (by about March 5th).

There are some reports from the Ram Brewery Enquiry here (up to Nov 11th 2009)
http://towerscj.wordpress.com/2009/1...eek-12-report/ ...and here is a statement from the Planning Inspectorate that they will make their decision by 27th May 2010; http://towerscj.files.wordpress.com/...statement2.pdf I don't know about the health of Minerva plc these days - may affect its ability to take this forward even if permission is granted? |

I've noticed three Keltbray diggers on site. They have started to clear a corner of the site. I wonder if this is a good sign?

I really like these towers, they're a nice height and have potential for a good build quality. I just pray that in ten days time they aren't downsized by the council or EH.

They're very well proportioned; loads of soar; so they'll be downsized to stumps

I think as a development its interesting but could of been better if it was subdivided into separate buildings by different architects.

Stumps it is then. I despair.
Government blocks Minerva's 1m sq ft Ram plans http://www.propertyweek.com/governme...002046.article The government today refused planning consent for Minerva’s 1m sq ft development plans at the Ram Brewery site in Wandsworth. Minerva’s application, which includes two towers 32 and 42 storeys high, was refused because of the height of the tall buildings. Salmaan Hasan, Minerva chief executive, said: “We are naturally disappointed by the Secretary of State’s decision and remain committed to our Ram Brewery and Buckhold Road sites which represent a rare opportunity to regenerate Wandsworth Town Centre. “However, the Secretary of State has given a positive response to many aspects of the scheme and given guidance as to what is likely to be acceptable. “We will now consider the information and guidance in the Secretary of State’s response and review our options as we look to move the scheme forward.” The scheme comprises 1,036 apartments and 238,000 sq ft of retail, restaurant and other commercial accommodation. Wandsworth Council granted planning consent for the scheme at the end of 2008 but the scheme was called in by the previous government in February 2009.

Ridiculous. But somehow predictable.
