Quite a shock considering its slap bang in the middle of holiday territory.

it has alot a nice residential areas though and the Barbican And Hoe are something most British cities would kill for.

that first pic of Sheffield reminds me of Birmingham somewhat.

To be fair it took an absolute battering in WW2, then the 60's planners gave it a battering!

I like the fact Nottingham has really dense extensive human scaled streets

Going back to Plymouth the Mutley area among others and nearby are quite nice...

Wow Helium those pictures are great. I love rows of old fashioned terraces like that. Reminds me abit of Notting Hill.
I almost typed Nottingham again instead of Notting Hill

They're not mine unfortunately I looked them up because i think people need to know if Plym' was decent so to speak (and google earth just makes it look like some grim Northern/ Valley town... or portsmouth because of its strict informal grid)
and those pastel coloured terraces in the last pic are lovely indeed, in fact i wish all terraces were like this (3 stories i mean) none of that 2 story nonsense.

Very nice Helium. That's a rare view of temple meads, isn't it? Gives a good idea of the size of the land for the arena.

Those shots of Plymouth really show how buggered it was after the war. Still, I lived there for a while back in the nineties and whenever I pass through these days it seems to be changing very rapidly.

Great to see pics of sheffield, Nottingham, and Newcastle. I always think Sheffield looks a bit like Bristol, with the rural/hilly setting and the type of buildings. Quite shocked we've got none of London yet!

Hopefully the arena will give further incentive to develop St philips

I Sort of wish Plymouth was sort of a UK equivalent of San Francisco tbh you know all the quirkiness, (but I think Brighton and Bristol have that role covered ) rather than being bland (and a bit rough).

The Hills in Sheffield seem more steeper and more closer together and frequent (and the city centre is flatter) whereas the ones here seem to be more sprawled out. (the hills in sheffield dominate on all sides)

Here's some high quality pics of its sister Leeds from flickr (from the member imran)

Here are some of Bristol and the surrounding area:

Wrington, a small village south of Bristol.

Congresbury, a small town south of Bristol.

Weston Super-Mare, southwest of Bristol.

Portishead, southwest of Bristol.

Avonmouth - this is the major port area of Bristol and the M5 Bridge can be seen crossing the River Avon.

Severn Beach, just next to Avonmouth.

View of Bristol from the south.

The tower blocks of Hartcliffe, a deprived and crime-ridden area of Bristol.

Bristol City Centre Skyline

Cumbernauld, in the Foreground up until the 12 Tower Blocks on the Hilltop. The empty land near the bottom of the pic is now having New Homes built on it.
