In the renderings, it never really looked black, just a shade or two darker in the blue. I think it will be an interesting contrast. I'm looking forward to seeing the southside make some progress to get a better idea of how it will look.

And depending on time of day and viewing angle, the light blue glass can look almost white. You can really get a sense for this on 65 near the 65/70 split on the near-northside, right above Meridian St. It will be a striking addition to the skyline and really lighten her up. The rest of our buildings can be so dreary-looking at times.

Yeah, I was suprised when I looked out the window last week and something just didn't look right. It took me a minute to figure out what it was.

From my understanding that was the intent. As the sun angles change the look is supposed to change. Something to that effect.

I was wondering how the workers can bear this cold while up on the scaffolds. Turns out they have space heaters with them something like this...

Please answer this: If One Indiana Square is getting a reclad, why is the new light blue facade being plastered onto the old one instead of the old facade being removed to make way for the new one?

There is a team of workers that are going to remove the old from the inside. That work will take place at night to not impact the tenants as much.

Spoke with the job foreman this afternoon. He said they would not be shooting the fireworks off the roof this 4th of July. I mentioned how slow those scaffolds move. He said they were surprisingly fast at 24 feet a minute. They will start working on Saturdays again when the weather warms up. Also he has anenometers on each lift that report into his office. Whenever the winds are sustained at 20 mph or more he calls the workers down.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The look of downtown Indianapolis is changing. That's because the city's third tallest building is getting a face lift.

Looking south along Meridian Street you can see the old and the new. Huge glass panels stretch skyward on the north facade of the Regions Bank building. The plan is to wrap the new glass around the entire building.

While this winter's cold temperatures haven't slowed progress, the recent high winds have.

"We've only lost a couple of days. They can move from one side of the building to another depending on wind direction. That's why it's nice to be working on both sides," said building manager, Dick Hardin.

The reason for the facelift is more practical than cosmetic. A windstorm in April of 2006 heavily damaged the building. Windows on one corner of the building were blown out. Entire offices were exposed to the elements.

The powerful straight line winds even twisted metal beams.

Engineers later patched up the damaged corner with a metal curtain. That was the temporary fix. The new window facade is the permanent fix.

While crews work on the outside, the building's tenants continue their work on the inside.

"Our main concern is not interrupting out tenants. So we are very concerned about how we proceed with our construction to make sure people are able to conduct their business," said Todd Maurer of Halakar Properties.

Once done, the building's owner says the new look will enhance the city's skyline.

"We're going to have a gorgeous building that will stand the test of time. We think it will be the most beautiful building in downtown Indianapolis," said Maurer.

Once the new windows are up, crews will head inside and begin pulling out the old windows. All the windows should be up by May of 2009 and the project finished by the end of 2009.

...and as building manager, I'm sure he makes way more $ than I do.

How old is he? It seems like all the blokes with unfortunate names are over 50, at least.

I would probably choke if the guy ever introduced himself to me.
