Yeah seems a bit odd that EVERYONE is Jamaican (well, apart from the little white girls dancing at the end)

You'd be more likely to hear Yoruba than Jamaican Patois around here these days

Hello.
I'd like to ask you a question regarding a certain tower in London. If you could post a picture of it, it would be great.

I can't remember its name, it is located in London, not very tall (perhaps 20 floors ???) but the base of it was narrower than its upper part. I'm sure about this.

The horizontal section of the tower is a triangle as far as I can remember.
It also had a small plaza in front of it, with benches for pedestrians.

Do you think you can help me with a few possibilities please ?

Ineylon, I don't know how well you know Hyson Green but I did a survey of The Old General Pub on Radford Road, just down from ASDA and there were old photo's of the flats pinned up behind the bar.

I'm kicking myself that I didn't get pictures of them but my boss and the rep for the brewery were stood right next to me and we were pushed for time trying to get the internal measurements. It's being turned into flats btw. Shame really.

I managed to miss the film about the Hyson Green flats, not once but twice

Looks like the book should be out soon though

Towerblock in Mile Cross, Norwich, recently was the victim of a fire on the 8th or 9th floor.

Burrows Court in Nottingham has gone downhill since I last visited a couple of years ago. I wonder if it'll ever get redeveloped since it was "purchased by an Israeli consortium in auction in 2006 for £2.865 million." It will get to a point where it'll have to be demolished.

I saw 15 minutes of this when it was on TV the first (only?) time round, the whole concept of turfing out the original residents was off-key. The show wasn't universally liked by people in the area because it focussed too much on the junkies.

This is how the tower looks like now

And the bits that stayed the same.

Druids Heath/ Maypole

Well the time has come!

I've been viewing this thread with great interest in the last few weeks and just couldn't resist getting invloved. What better way to introduce myself by getting out there and taking some up to date shots of the first blocks I ever saw and which always make a great impression on me on my way to visit my nan in South Birmingham? This proud bunch are in the Maypole/ Druids Heath area of the city. To me they are particularly striking because they are on the very outer limit of the city, and in some cases across the road from a big block there are fields and the countryside begins! I love the juxtaposition of blocks and the Worcestershire fields. I always looked forward to seeing these blocks (almost as much as my dear gran) on my way to Birmingham from Redditch. Each time I thought "there it is - the city." Anyway, here are the results of my short tour today:

Welcome Sehenswert

They're the blocks you pass when you're going along the A435 aren't they? My girlfriend used to live in Kings Heath and I'd pass them going south from there.

Have you checked out the West Mids thread here ? Bunch of weirdos, but some great pics

Thanks for the warm welcome Ineylon!

You're absolutely right; these blocks are situated on the A435 near to Maypole. And King's Heath is where I live now incidentally.

I didn't know about the Midlands threads so thanks for the tip I'll be sure to have a scout about soon, thanks. So many blocks (well - for the time being at least) and not enough time! I could lose hours on these threads..

Well I hope to get some more photos soon, whether in the Midlands or elsewhere.

Cheers.
