Good to hear that that housing is underway.

With Southport and The Landing to the north, and Downtown Renton reenergized to the south, it's getting to be a worthwhile area, though a bit separated from the outside due to commercial sprawl and freeways.

That's great news! I'm curious what is the height limition in Renton? I know that Renton has an airport next to The Landing.

I'm sure the buildings are taller in The Landings than in downtown Renton due that there is no planes that fly over that area since the runaway runs North to South West of the Landings.

All the Renton pictures you could ever want from my AJM STUDIOS Northwest Photo Journey. Click the image to be directly linked to my Renton photos. Taken real recently. The main intro also has the latest news from the city.

As usual, I expect no one to comment, because no-one ever does and it really stinks when I take the time to do all this, and no-one says a thing, but here you go... take advantage, Enjoy.

If your lazy, and don't click the link, here are a few sample images below.

Renton should be part of Sound Transit 2 or 3 (if they're already planned it) plans too. Renton have bright future and will have more than 120,000 residents within two decades (I think). Adding light rail system in Renton will help Renton and Seattle metro area residents to get around. It would be nice to have few light rail stations in Renton including The Landing and IKEA it will reduce traffics and make it easier for thousands of people who don't like to drive or don't have cars.

Well, based off of ST2, Renton is kind of out of the way of the system that is under construction and the system that is planned. However, included in ST2 are planning studies for future high-capacity transit (BRT or Light Rail) on sections that include 405 from the current line to Bellevue (through Renton), a path along I-90 from the current line to Issaquah, and a line from the UW area where the proposed line is following 520 to Redmond. Mind you, those are just planning studies.

Those are some nifty looking houses at the Barbee Mill site.

Looks like some yuppies will start invading Renton. Too bad, we won't be able to make fun of it anymore.

wow, renton could really be fun in the upcoming years. the barbee mill developments look very pacific northwest, which is cool. i'm especially looking foward to the mixed use stuff on the superfund site. the whole development kind of reminds me of parts of marin county.... which is awesome.

OK, sorry to go a tad bit off topic here, but . . .

Today I went to Southcenter for the first time in a while. The expansion they are undertaking there is HUGE! For the sake of both these Renton retail projects as well as the Southcenter mall, I sure hope there's a sizeable population increase in that area in the next 10 years or so. If not, we may see some of this excess retail start to go downhill and close up pretty quickly.

Which is why the mall was sueing to stop the renton developement. This potentially could do more harm then good. Although this might push the mall to clean up and better utilize its position in relation to transit.

Southcenter stopped the sueing because the managing owner Westfield owns many malls and one of their big tenants is Target....
Who is moving into the Development The Landing?....Target is. So Westfield did not want to upset their good friend.
