And, Westfield lost a major review appeal against the development. City of Renton Hearing Examiner deemed that the lawsuit was without merit and dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice. Further the "grassroots community" organization that was the sponsor of the lawsuit was criticized as being a legal "front" for Westfield. If Westfield would have won their appeal I doubt that a Target connection would have prevented Westfield from stopping The Landing.

Just imagine what cruising Lake Washington would be like if the lake had 3 or 4 cities with tall, shiny skyscrapers surrounding the lake. That would be awesome.

Yes, it is a logical area for high-rises, but the airport does complicate things. However, I believe there are areas outside the flightpaths where mid-rises could be built. Probably just a matter of time.

Anyone know what they are planning to do with the Boeing warehouse? To me it would seem I would not want a nice house next to a giant cement warehouse factory. Are they tearing it down like I or not?
I was in Renton this last Saturday, and they are doing a lot by the waterfront there. |

i believe that boeing factory is here to stay...sadly.
the area would be highly improved without it. There is a HUGE area of grass....almost the size of the landing devlopment...right near kenworth and DT renton. I think the site was contamidated...but im sure in the next few years it will be ready to be built on.

Yes the Airport is not going anywhere. Boeing said it will build the next Gen 737 right there. The plane will be like the 787. They will need the Airport to move these suckers.

Boeing is just one factor concerning the airport. In this region, every airport is considered important and irreplacable. Further, if Boeing moved, something else airport related would likely snap up at least some of their site. Renton Airport isn't going anywhere.

also many small private planes use Renton airport, too. They need it for local users for private flights.

Just imagine pulling the turn on the freeway and seeing Renton in it's little valley, with bright tall skyscrapers. That would be a awesome view! I picture this kind of stuff with a ton of cities.
I'd like to see Lynnwood jump on it. Come on guys. |

I am curious what the City of Renton goals for the future? Become another Bellevue? Or what?
I already heard Seattle, Bellevue, Lynnwood, Tacoma, Federal Way, Everett goals. I haven't hear about Renton yet. |

i think its goal is to become the next bellevue pretty much. initially not as glitzy or anything, but build up a well known reputation and creat an urban center which people will want to come to. Basically i heard "shed its blue collar image". They are basically rezoning a lot so that new development will take place. We'll see in time. I dont know if it has set specific goals tho.

Renton markets themselves very aggressively. Much of this is due to fear of Boeing leaving or shrinking, which has all be very relevant lately, thought they're probably feeling more secure right now. But also they want to shed their image of being only blue collar.
