I would love to see this type of modern-futuristic looking office complex (six or eight buildings) like the one just south of San Fransisco (I forgot which suburban community but I think it is near San Mateo) to get built in Renton just next to Lake Washington. I wish I have the picture of it to post it here.

No matter, Renton still has a lot of undesirable areas. Look at the pictures I took below.

This office building in Renton has Gravel/Dirt parking lots? What the heck? The city still has dirt? Also big empty weed filled lots sit beside this trio of black-dark blue curved offices.

Gravel parking lots again, and some old buildings and worn down shacks around this building along with some not-so nice industry old buildings.

Train tracks by the warehouse area of Renton has many tracks overgrown along with blocks of buildigns like this. Well all of the Kent-Auburn-Federal Way area seems kind of like warehouses... never liked it.

Up close, Renton's Triton Towers look pretty dirty and old and fairly beat up.

Old worn down homes still line the streets surrounding the nice new downtown Renton. Sidewalks in the city could be weeded.

A high point of Renton is the new downtown area which is very nice looking, but once you leave the one block of it, then it becomes kind of pit like again. Look past our Mustang at those new apartments... couldn't they be a lot nicer looking and match more of the new downtown?

A rare Renton "landmark" if you will. Thise tiny train bridge forces traffic off this main road to become one lane, making traffic on the other side either stop and wait for the other to go through, or collide into each other. I don't want them to take it down though, becuase it's unique.

So thats my cons list of Renton.

Well I just found this out from an old roomie who now works at Paccar. They are not going to be doing anything with that vacant land by the Kenworth plant for a VERY long time. Its a Superfund site. It was contaminated back when Paccar was a foundry. The place is completely toxic with all kinds of nasty stuff from the 40's to the 70's.

Hmm, I'd been wondering about that particular lot for a couple years. Now I know.

Just build on the damn site. Why remove the dirt, put it somewhere else and then bring more dirt in.. Just dig it out and build some towers. We all live on contaminated soil, from a hundred years of stupidity.

3D VIEW OF THE LANDING!!! pretty cool....though it doesnt show really all the detail that ive noticed in the structures that have been built...nor does it have market lane or anything on it...so it will be pretty cool.

I love the housing! Too bad there isn't more of it, and too bad it's not integrated with the retail.

It would make sense to put some small retail along the main access road. But the south frontage of the housing looks like it's just a concrete wall with parking behind (third pic).

Now they works!

Great rendering! I'm disappointed with the plans though... Need more mixed uses developments and more dense than sea of parking lots and single floor retail buildings.

I went through the area this past weekend and am surprised at the progress. Everything is moving along at a good clip. Maybe over time the Sea of parking will be converted into buildings.

i dont mind the parking...i was looking at kent station...and i dont mind it. If there wasnt all that parking...where would everyone park? kent station is alwats overloaded with people....and that project is only 1/6th this size of the landing. So, i wont mind the parking...plus along the roadways is markt lane and the landing tower which should be cool.
