according to Polish law, no public bid can be renegotiated. the price offered is the only valid one. thanks to that there is no more room for any "under-table" negotiations.

if you come to work and your employer have not paid your weight for a couple of months what you do ? definately I do not call it a boycott.
Thanks for the explanations. I read in an article about a week ago that Covec encountered some kind of a boycott from subcontractors, but I realize now the situation was more complex.

I thought such large Chinese firms would be able to subcontract very little. What kind of works did they subcontract?

Another cool monthly video (from end May this year) flown over the Timisoara-Arad motorway yard:

I'd say more than 50% is effectively asphalted, with the completion rate at about 70% or a bit more. I think there are chances to be completed this year.

Really courageous and resilient building!

It looks to me like completion before the end of 2012 should be possible.

There are some in the Romanian forums:
- here;
- here;
- here;

and a picture from the plain: here.

Unfortunately nothing much to see. They are advancing very slow, due to some problems and archaeological issues.

Both the contractor and the central and local authorities say Timisoara-Arad section will open by the end of this year.

I watched a good 10 minutes of that aerial video. Works seem to be progressed quite far, however I'm mostly worried about some bridges within the motorway. I wouldn't bother too much about anything over the motorway, as that can be finished when the motorway is in operation as well.

What surprises me is the empty land the motorway runs through. There are almost no crossing roads, although there are a large number of bridges, probably for local agricultural traffic.

^ Chris, don't mind LeClerk, sometimes he doesn't pay attention. That video is NOT the latest one. This one, below, is app. 3 weeks newer than the one he posted.

I am starting to believe this segment will be finished in December, there are many people who say it will happen. And not in the Gov, but people close to the contractors that actually build the damn thing.

I watched both videos in their entirety. Some progress has been made during the three intervening weeks, but I still don't see how it can be completed this year. Two things worry me:
1) several in-line bridges barely have their foundations laid, and
2) several buildings are still standing on the right-of-way between 16:30 and 17:00.

I didn't say it's the latest. I even specified it's one month old.

It's basically the same team Porr used to build 65 km of M6. There are many, many Hungarian employees.

The situation is very different now on site. They are working 24/7, on all sections (where you see grass in both movies today it's a huge site), and almost all buildings have been demolished, except one, but it will be very soon the next victim:

Works have started on Nadlac-Arad motorway section (39 km). To be completed mid-2013.
