In short, a splendid trip, and driver mentality was not as insane as expected.

a2 motorway is finished till cernavoda, aprox 150kms from bucharest.the section from cernavoda to constanta and constanta bypass will be soon u/c and hopefully till end 2010 a2 will be fully functional.

What is the current situation about motorwayconstruction between Arad-Timisoara?

on arad-timisoara the contractor was chosen(astaldi from italy).the construction is expected to start in spring 2009 and it must finish in 24months.i hope they will keep their promises.

Ups,,,Than the hungarians have to be quick finishing M43 to Nagylak-border.

no hurry, arad-nadlac section won't finish until 2012

however arad-timisoara section is quite useless without nadlac-arad and timisoara-lugoj-deva sections, because dn7 is a much shorter route and nobody travelling from bucharest to nadlac will like to choose a 50kms longer route just to drive on 50kms of motorway.until they finish whole motorway deva-nadlac, arad-timisoara will be used mainly by people travelling from timisoara to arad and viceversa.

today there are parliamentary elections in romania and i'm very curious to see how the newly elected government will deal with the problem of building the needed motorways.each party promised at least 1000kms of new motorways to be open between 2009-2012.it seems very unrealistic to me.

we have just 2 motorways:
A1 from bucharest to pitesti including pitesti bypass - about 115kms
A2 from bucharest to cernavoda(between bucharest and constanta, on the danube) - aprox 150kms
currently u/c:
bucharest-ploiesti aprox 60kms finishing 2010
sibiu bypass aprox. 15kms finishing 2010
2 sections of transylvania motorway(campia turzii-cluj and suplacu de barcau-bors) -aprox 118kms finishing 2010
will start construction spring 2009, constructor already chosen:
arad-timisoara aprox 50kms finishing end 2010 or begining 2011
cernavoda-constanta aprox 50kms finishing end 2010 or begining 2011
constanta bypass aprox 20kms finishing 2011
it should also start summer 2009, constructor not chosen yet:
deva-orastie aprox 30kms

unfortunately u are damn right.

.hopefully the newly elected government will do smth about it.almost each party that participated in this month parlamentary elections promised at least 1000km of new motorways till 2012-2013, but i will be very happy if they can build at least 500km.

I think if Romania can finish the A1 (Pitesti-Nadlac), A2 (Cernavoda-Constanta) and A3 (Bucuresti-Bors) and start the A4(?) (Bucuresti towards Northeast like Iasi) and A5(?) between the A3 and MD border until 2013, you can be satisfied. This is a lot of work to do.

wow...we will be very satisfied to have these motorways until 2013, or even 2015.

Not to metion that Polish gov. is gonna to spend 131 bilions złotych (~35 bilions of euros) on Polish motorways and highways by the end of 2012/13.

Not at all, they are mostly finished, except towards Croatia, but they will be built fast, you'll see.
