Well, technically when the motorway would be done you can reach brasov by the motorway via Sibiu and future expressway Sibiu - Brasov, or by the national road. It is stupid.
It's like you're driving on the M5 towards Budapest and you have an exit ai Kiskunfelegyhaza and you have Kecskemet on the M5 ahead or you can exit and reach Kecskemet on the 5 national road. |

So you're coming from Bucharest, and here they sign you can leave the motorway and turn around to get back to Bucharest.

do romanian cities' names have some meaning? for instance, Rimnicu Valcea - i see abbrevitation Rm Valcea, so it could mean something. also, Cluj Napoca is often called only Cluj, does napoca mean something?

Why did they construct the Sibiu bypass along the northern side of town, instead of the shorter route via the southern side?

i think they choose the northern variant because it will also be useful for people travelling from bucharest to medias or sighisoara(DN15).on the south side there are no national roads, only county roads.on the other hand immediately south from sibiu there is a somehow protected area, called 'dumbrava sibiului'=sibiu's forest and terrain is more hilly.

the sign is logic because is placed at the intersection of the motorway with national road 7 which also links pitesti with bucharest.you don't have ljubljana signed on a1 at the intersection with national road 10 near trojane, if u are coming from ljubljana on a1?
