I'm sure on the intersection between A2 and national road 2 in Bulgaria we don't have sign sending you back to Varna, Ruse, Shumen or Sofia (wherever you come from ) by the national road...

No, why would we have signs for turning you back to Ljubljana, when that's where you're coming from?

Not to mention few people would actually use the national road when they can simply make a u-turn on the next motorway exit (assuming they wanted to return all of a sudden)

it may be useful if u want to go somewhere to a suburb of bucharest near dn7because bucharest bypass is in very bad shape.also it can be of great use when a presumable motorway tax will be introduced sometime in the future, for people that don't want to pay for motorway.also if u want to go to a village on dn7 in between bucharest and pitesti and you don't know the area very well but you know that this viilage is somewhere on dn7 direction bucharest it's very useful because u can see on a map that dn7 finishes in bucharest.it titu for ex would be signed, noone would have heard of it.

I have a question about the A4 motorway. The different language sections of Wikipedia talk about various routes.

Generally:

* Iasi - Piatra-Neamt - Targu Mures (A3)
* Iasi - Suceava - Bistrita - Dej - Baia Mare - Satu Mare - Petea
* Iasi - Suceava - Baia Mare - Satu Mare - Petea

Which one will it be? Or is is another one?

the first one is correct.it will be, along with pitesti-sibiu section of a1 the most challenging to build motorway in romania.

I think Ploiesti - Brasov section within the future A3 motorway will be far more challanging to be built than Pitesti - Sibiu section.

i don't think so, because prahova valley is much wider than olt valley.on prahova valley there are only 2 challenging areas: posada canyon(less than 10km) and downhill from predeal to valea cheii(another 10km).by the way pitesti-sibiu has some 60 challenging km, very hard to build, on the foothills of fagaras mountains.it passes 2 ridges(arges-topolog and topolog-olt) instead of only one on ploiesti-brasov(ridge between prahova and valea cheii valleys).it also needs longer tunnels and viaducts to build.

Polish-style roads. But shoulders are even wider. I bet Romanians overtake like crazy.

In Romania it's possible to overtake while some other guy coming from the other side is overtaking as well. In short: the Polskomanian syndrom

For people like me who miss exits to Bucharest on the motorway (when, for example, going to Bucharest) and take the wrong direction, and then have to look for the next exit from the motorway (to change the direction to Bucharest). I think they are pretty useful, as they let you know in time what's the distance to the next exit (after that sign there's another one which tells you there's 1 km to the next exit) so that you slow down from 170 km/h (like I drive on highways ) to 100 km/h.

Is it true that the A1 used to have no exit signage at all? I assume they do have it now.

I do not remember that. It may have been possible a long time ago, but certainly not in the last 10 years.
