On the one hand, this will certainly save a lot of lives in the future.

But on the other, wasn't there any way to bypass this ? Can you show us this particular section on a map?

"Richtgeschwindigkeit" should be the default system in all EU motorways & expressways & lane indiscipline should be harshly fought! Down with radars on motorways!

Is this clip made at 07.11? Because this motorway seems far from over! No crashbarriers, no top construction at most of the small bridges! Could it be really completed by 15.12?

The clip was recorded on November 7th. The motorway will be opened on December 15th, but some minor works will still be left to be done. The completion is scheduled in spring 2012.

Can something be sad & funny at same time ?

Quote:
The adventure began at the Hungary/Romania border crossing near Szeged, where a clown in uniform demanded proof of ownership, allegedly to stop us from smuggling the car to Russia, which he claimed is the world's largest black market for Rolls-Royce vehicles. Instead of flashing a twenty-euro bill, which might have settled the issue on the spot, we produced enough papers and documents to impress the customs squad, who agreed in the end to pose with the Ghost for a portrait. Unlike Hungary, which is autobahn heaven despite its numerous radar traps, Romania is a third-world country as far as its ill-kept road network is concerned. Take, for instance, the road that connects Arad and Sibiu. Winding and very casually surfaced, this two-lane roller-coaster run with an occasional third lane works according to the principle of "survival of the maddest." Since the middle lane can be accessed from both sides, overtaking traffic races toward each other until one party gives in, or not. On two-lane terrain, it's the vans that pull out all the stops -- even forty-ton trucks will gracefully swerve onto the soft shoulder so that the Suicide Mission players can advance to the next level. Although there are enough police around to enforce the 100 kph (62-mph) speed limit, chasing the culprits in a 1.2-liter Dacia Sandero and finding a safe spot to pull over violators is perhaps even scarier than watching the death toll rise on digital roadside skull-and-crossbones meters. Nationwide, a busy holiday weekend typically claims more victims than Dracula could suck dry in a year.

Wow ! Very nice ! Pity for the moment, there's no link between the West end of the A2 Constanţa-Murfatlar section and the A2 section starting at Cernavodă...

That must be about Orastie-Sibiu section of C IV which is indeed quite dangerous. Hopefully, in 2 year time the currently U/C motorway will be completed.

could you guys tell me how many km of motorways are scheduled to be finished /already have been finished this year in Romania ?

I mean the motorways which are 100% completed, not the ones which are opened, but still require some/big improvements nex year in spite of the fact they are somehow "driveable"

I think because they are still working on it. As you can see in the second picture, there are workers near or right on the road.

I mean without curves. Isn't the praxis and all relevant investigations in Europe showed that the curves are necessary on motorways. Because they increase security.

Well, yes, but that is not exactly a straight line. It has a very wide curve for safety reasons.
