@ and802: do you really want his answer or you just want to annoy Le Clerk?
@ Le Clerk: that tunnel will have only 350m.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: You can find a plan here: Link. But the plan is not respected at all. Le Clerk's estimations are way better (even if he is accused of being an optimist).

bgd77,

many thanks.

as I can see that plan ends on 2013.
how about the national program 2014-upwards ?
I am quite curious, because I made my own survey, and it looks like other countries rather "cut" their expectations than "expand" them. this is way I am here.

and802: my answer is that the program 2014-on is according to financial allocations.

What we know is that the EU financial allocations for infrastructure in Romania will increase in the budgetary cycle 2014-2020, and that those money will go for Corridors IV and XI. So there is one future plan.

PS: a couple of major motorways (Transilvania Motorway and TgMures-Iasi motorways, not part of C IV or C IX) were accepted recently for TEN-T financing and these are definitelly going into the 2014-2020 period.

The other plan is to find private financing for the rest of the network which is not covered by EU financing. I think we mentioned many times this idea here, but not many follow it.

These are just plans which depend 100% on financing sources stated above.

I don't know if such a plan exists. At least, I'm not aware of its existence.

LE: I saw Le Clerk's answer after I sent mine. He is right, our plans depend on the amount of financing from EU and private companies.

Another answer, the same idea:
- there is no law in Romania binding governments to respect the plans of highways construction. All plans are intrinsically amended by "if budgetary allocations allow it"
- even the current govt. (in place since 2008) does not respect its own promises of building 836km of highways in 2008-2012 mandate, because it has been caught by an 'unforeseenable' event: the global crisis started in 2009

Right: a law should be passed saying that the frigging global crisis should stay the heck out of Romania!

No.
What was 'unforseenable' for Romanian govt. in 2009 has happened in USA in 2006 - real estate crisis.
And we know since 1929-1933 that a big economical crisis in USA propagates at global scale.

Let's not discuss about the crisis here, OK? It's just a stupid topic which is being discussed a lot on various other threads.

hmm,
if you think the crisis will not have any impact on motorway construction in Romania and the plan you presented ...

then, yes let us leave this stupid topic, which has nothing to do with your plans. as said before let me again verify you findings within 20 months. so far we agreed 1600 km of new motorways till 2020.

and802, I kindly asked you NOT TO discuss with me ESTIMATES again, OK?

If you want to discuss about the economic crisis, there are dedicated threads. I am perfectly aware of the potential (moderate to worse) consequences of the current continental economic crisis, but the financing outlook I mentioned above is based on official EU financing projections, and not on speculation on whether the current crisis might end the EU or the world as we know it.

As an on-topic information, the Government financial allocations for motorway construction have been highest during the crisis and not during booming economic times, and the latest economic very positive result in Q3 (+4.5% Y/Y) was also caused by the increased construction activities according to the Stats Office (mainly public financed constructions - motorways included, since private driven construction activity is still in recession). The recent budget rectifications will increase motorway allocations for this year, and next year budget will allot the highest amount to infrastructure in Romania's post-communist history.

alright.

the plan you have just presented is more than reasonable

just to reconcile where we are at present I made simple calculation.
2010-2011: 100 km of new motorways
2012-2019: 1500 km/8 years = 185 km a year

6 million euro x 185 km = 1,1 bln euro a year

wait. let me think ...
actually based on these figures I would say we should go back to previous estimates which were 250 km a year: 6 million euro x 250 km = 1,5 bln euro. that must be doable.

let me watch the progress and comment my own estimates later.

A3 Moara Vlasiei - Ploiesti ----------------- 64% --------------------------------- 70%

A1 Arad - Timisoara ----------------------- 75% --------------------------------- 85%

A1 Arad bypass --------------------------- 55% --------------------------------- 71%

A4 Constanta bypass ---------------------- 59% --------------------------------- 66%

A2 Medgidia - Constanta ------------------- ??% --------------------------------- 68%

A2 Cernavoda - Medgidia ------------------- ??% --------------------------------- ??%
