Me neither, especially that there are some changes currently in the Transport MInistry which are causing probably some delays.

Tiny signs!

T-shaped sign supports like that are a bad idea. There's a reason why the area between the mainline and an offramp is called the "gore."

Bulgaria, Turkey and Qatar agreed a joint venture to build a 300 km highway from Ruse to Svilengrad, at the Greek-Turkish border. The highway will cross Bulgaria north to south, connecting the Romanian border to the Greek-Turkish border and is expected to cost about 750 million Euro.

As DN5 Giurgiu - Bucharest was recently upgraded to a 2+2 lanes road, I think that there is no need for a motorway in this direction in the next 10 years. Also the traffic volumes aren't very high. Romania needs to speed up another projects as A3 and A1, I think!

It's a very retarded road going through villages and has terrible circular thingies in the middle of the road to slow you down.

Still, it has plenty of unused capacity. And it's not that retarded or full of villages. Especially when compared to other 2+2 roads, such as DN2. So it's debatable wheather to finance this motorway in the 2013-2020 bugdget alocation, or put the money into more congested and dangerous roads, such as the South motorway Bucuresti-Craiova-Calafat, or Bucuresti-Focsani motorway, to relieve DN2 road.

The 33 km expressroad by-pass of Adunatii Copaceni needs to be extended to BUcharest and Giurgiu and then problem solved!

But I agree it's hardly a priority in terms of traffic volumes.

33 km expressroad by-pass? What? Are we living in paralel universes? It's just a normal european 2x2, center divided, SHORT bypass, and not even an expressway, since it has at-grade intersections, including roundabouts. And why would you use that alignment for a motorway? It's a lot more eficient to build it on a completely different route, free of villages, with a new bridge over the Arges river (future Bucharest-Danube canal). Besides, we don't even know where new bridge over the Danube will be, to the east or west of Giurgiu?

It's not that it wouldn't pay-off in terms of traffic volumes, but the existing road is very good quality and still has room for more cars. For the same money, you could build something of much greater impact, such as the south motorway bypass of Bucharest, that would benefit Bulgaria-bound traffic a great deal more.

I am not talking about the section with the round-abouts, but about the new Adunatii-Copaceni by-pass. Last time I drove it, I didn't see round-abouts or same grade intersections there.

Anyway, I agree that Bucharest's south motorway by-pass would be much more useful than a Giurgiu-Bucharest motorway. I even suggested that the Turkish Gov could consider financing that togerther with a Bucharest-Giurgiu motorway, to complete the Svilengrad-Ruse motorway.

Please, for the sake of the people living there, drive on it again and take a better look. There are 2 at-grade intersections on that stretch, one of them a roundabout. It's impossible to miss. And people wonder why there are so many accidents on our roads, especially involving pedestrians...

Works will finally start near Sibiu for the first motorway tunnel in Romania. Astaldi, the contractor, will use cut and cover technology.

OK. Probably you are right because last time I drove it was last year, so may not remember the details very well. Stil, I remember it as a very safe road, with relativelly low traffic, the kind of road I would like to see in many other parts.

As for the 2 at-grade intersections, I think they could easily turn them into non-grade intersections.
