Le Clerk, please stop being so easily upset by critics. The official name of the contract is "Modernizarea centurii rutiere a Municipiului Bucureşti între A1-DN 7 şi DN 2-A2, Lot 2: Sector DN2 (km 12+300) – A2 (km 23+750)" (Modernisation of Bucharest ring-road between A1-DN7 and DN2-A2, Lot 2: section Dn2-A2). Nothing twisted there. There is no other way of mentioning it on the news without displaying lack of professionalism. And as you can clearly see, the article uses the correct form, so apparently you got carried-away mid text and posted without checking. It's not the first time either, as other have have already stated. Anyway, I've seen how you *cough* count pedestrian crossings on busy ringroads , so mishaps like these aren't much of a surprise.

Back on-topic, the contract for the other lot, A1-DN7 was signed a few weeks ago, but still, no visible construction works. I guess they are still at the designing stage (if they are working at all, since public funds are low). Thoungh, even with money, both projects will be tough, since there are some VERY busy intersections that need solving, and there is so little space available under the existing overpasses. It's going to be a very tight squeeze for a 4 lane road, and most likely, the biggest intersections will be something improvised.

DN1C or E58 between Baia Mare and Dej is being rehabilitated. Over the Mesteacăn pass they are making 2 lanes for uphill way and because of this there are quite some earthworks. When it will be ready, this year I believe, it will be a delight driving on it with a sportscar. Sadly no photos because I'm on a bus. Contractor is FCC.

Nothing special, emergency lanes different colour than driving lanes, so ugly.

PS Imi cer scuze pentru calitatea cam slaba a fotografiilor dar era dupa amiaza, caldura a fost insuportabila, iar multe poze au iesit defocalizate sau "arse". Sper totusi ca v-am ajutat sa va faceti o parere.

I never said I was perfect on this thread or other. Actually, my presence here is first about informing myself about the road infrastructure works in Romania. And if I am wrong, I admit it without getting upset.

BUT, I am getting sick of trolls such as and802, who are not genuinelly interested in Romanian infrastructure (when has he really written anything or asked about Romanian infrasture on this thread?) but on trolling me on every mistake I make. And what's ridiculous, he keeps bringing back some kind of statement I made a few good years ago (I do not remember when ) about the development of motorways in Romania (which was rather a media report which I posted here etc, but I couldn't expet him to understand that either). That is smth that annoys me, and I repeatedly told him to stop trolling and especially to stop reading me, and read instead about infrastructure in Romania, but that is not his interest here as it seems from his posts.

Anyway, I am not interested in this guy anymore and I am not going to bother answering him anymore. I am not interested but in Romanian infrastructure.

Le Clerks I thought you figured it out...

do not estimate my interest by number of posts/number of questions in this thread. I can assure you many people read this thread do not particulary post information/questions here. please keep in mind number of posts/questions is not a correct KPI for gathering knowledge.

the thread is for me a professional bank of information about Romanian road infrastructure. not only for me. foreigners cannot read romanian newspapers so those who are interested in Romanian infrastructure go directly to this thread as long as they cannot understand romanian language.

so generally I can base my knowledge on what is written here. and I am happy with every postive step made towards improving the romanian infrastructure published here. of course I am unhappy if the posts do not reflect the truth. of course sometimes it happens - someone posts the information, which later becomes fake. but as old school of KGB says: one coincidence is just a coincidence, but once you see two of them then it is a pattern, no coincidence. and with you there are much more coincidences than two. and although I do not follow KGB rules in my life, based on your posts Le Clerk, I must admit you make chaos here instead of inputting valuable information. if you achieved the situation foreigners go to local Romanian newspapers/websites to verify your posts here then it the highest time to ask yourself:

what is the purpose of my presence here ?

so do not get angry with me, do not accuse me of stalking you, because your own posts are stalking you. I am just quoting them.
you see I am a straight-forward guy and I do it in a straight way: you deliver bullshit I unwrap it and show the lack of value.

other foreigners verify it in romanians news (good, they will learn some Romanian), some other remain silent.

and just to tell you I am not false concerned about informations posted here netiher stalking you, below it is my post from this thread I wrote 2 years ago:

The Romanian population is declining dramatically. I made this map, and I'm wondering what kind of effect it has on traffic projections and the tax base, which appears to be eroding away rather quickly.

I don't think that this map is very accurate. It's not a real decline. Not all this people are dead or moved to another country and to settle down there. A big part of them will return to country, many just work there for several years.

It's very accurate, because it's based on the Romanian census.

@Chris,
Romanian workers with low salaries have migrated to EU countries (especially the ones speaking neo-latin languges, i.e. Italy and Spain, but not France) in search of a better future (after EU accession).
This is a phenomenon similar to the migration of poor Italians (Sicilians) to Belgium and other countries after WWII.

These Romanians do work abroad and pay taxes there, but they send money home to their families.
The GDP of Romania has risen in the last years and the ex-pats have a big contribution to this rise.

It is estimated that 2 - 3 million Romanian workers emigrated at a total population of 22 millions in 2002 (previous census).
Some of them returned home after 2009, when the globals crisis made them lose their jobs abroad.

Trivia:
- I noticed at the Romanians from abroad coming home in holidays that they speak Romanian to their children, while their children answer in Spanish or Italian

-------------
There is one green region on that map:
- the county Ilfov (which contains the capital in it) has been chosen as residence by some 'nouveau riche' people working in Bucharest (which moved from commie blocks of flats to new houses built near Bucharest)

It's FAR from accurate, and it's been criticised heavily by sociologists. According to sociologists, approx 1.5 million of population was not counted due to poor organisation of the census. There are many people (including among members here - myself too and my family and friends - who were not counted). Dozens of politicians were not reviewed too and criticized publically the census. Anyway, the population should be around 20.5 million if accuratelly accounted.

I meant the census. It cannot be redone because its results need to be reported to the EU this year and because it was expensive and there is no money for a remake.
