In (Romanian) detail here

The consultants are basically saying that Comarnic-Brasov is the only motorway project that could see a PPP funding, together with Bucharest ring. This is due to the high traffic that could ensure a return of investment.

PS: The main motorway targets for the coming period (together of course with the remaining sections of A1) should be Comarnic-Brasov (PPP), Pitesti-Sibiu (EU money 2014-2020), and A0 south (PPP). For these, there will be less pressure on the budget.

Comarnic-Brasov/Fagaras completion/works could ensure PPP incentives for Brasov/Fagaras-Cluj section of A3.
Sibiu-Pitesti and A0 south will complete A1, and will give PPP incentives to A0.
A0 south wil be put out for PPP together with the administration of A2 and A1 (Sibiu-Pitesti section).

As for the south motorway, I am still waiting to see where they get the financing for it.

When I was driving in Romania, I could not help than notice how better the motorways are compared to the pot hole filled motorways of neighbouring Serbia. Congratulations on the A1... Its very good... I think Top Gear drove on the A1... I'm not exactly sure.

A1 (Buc-Pitesti) is in fact the worst motorway in Romania. However we can't compare to Serbia yet, which has a much better network. When talking about motorways in Serbia you should take into account that their motorways are quite old and they didn't had quite a great time as a country after 1990.

A1 (Bucharest-Pitesti) is in the same situation with the motorways built in commie times in Serbia - not very bad but significantly below the standards of motorways being U/C in Romania ATM. BTW: I drove on Zagreb-Belgrade motorway last year.

It is true that Serbia has a larger motorway network built in commie times than Romania, and that shows in the quality of that network which is obviously below the current motorway standards.

Can you stop talking lies about your country?
Serbia and Romania share the same destiny of poor countries with corrupted government, but people are nice, and there are not many potholes...
Be positive for once!

No offence, Subotica Belgrade and other newly opened motorways are fine but the oler motorways I felt were much worse than the motorways in Romania, FYROM and Bulgaria. Btw I am not from Serbia, hence the Serbian border service checking my baggage and passport before I left to enter Kosovo.

Will the elections of yesterday result in changes to the road development of Romania?

It's really hard to say in this moment. The general idea is that the newly elected party is more into social investments, or at least this is what a leftist party is encouraging. However if there will be pressure from EU, we might see them continuing the good job the last Government did in awarding Motorway tenders. And I take full responsibility for my words. I guess by the end of January we will see the tendance.

Yes, road development will slow down. The winning alliance is only interested in theft and made up of people too stupid to understand the magnitude of the economic crisis and to save the country from bankruptcy and debt.

Basescu's party is similar, but at least some of them did a few useful things. Their mismanagement of the economy cost them the elections; however, USL is even more incompetent.

its his government he was talking about, not his country. i love my country, but if it was up to me, we should lock the doors of our parliament in budapest when every politician is in there, and burn it down to the ground. ok, it would be a shame for that beautiful building, but i reached a point that i think it may be worth it...
