A1 in between Pitesti and Bucharest is very crowded, also because of the traffic coming from Craiova that at some point an extention will be needed to 2x3 lanes. If a motorway is built directly between Bucharest and Craiova, it would remove the need for such extension, but it could cost as much as such extention, while adding another route IMO.
"As important or even more important than the north"....nice Le Clerk , very nice...so the north gotta wait for the south , isn it ?

The shortest paved route between Giurgiu and Alexandria is the road through Ghimpati. The other roads seen on GM that look shorter are having missing parts
As @medicul' de garda said DJ504 is UC the first 11 km between Alexandria and Cernetu, still missing nearly 20km for which we hope to start construction next year.

Wow, you really miss links. Hope that motorways are built along with access and feeder roads.

I wanted to ask when the Struma motorway will be ready for traffic, the section to Dpunica? Maybe in a few months?

I completely agree with Radi. Romanians should immediately rename C IV south Nadlac - Arad - Timisioara - Lugoj - Calafat to Struma motorway and thus enjoying the best psychadelic experience of modern civilization and technology - legendary intergalactic Struma motorway. In such way you would improve transborder cooperation and friendship between our people and economical and political stability of the region. Alleluia

Is it possible to drive from Romania to Ukraine without going through Moldova? From the map seems like not...

I assume you mean the route to Odessa. Which travels through Moldova for about 2 kilometers, and you do need to go through customs twice there. It's similar in driving from Zittau (Germany) to Liberec (Czechia). You need to go through Poland for about 3 kilometers.

Exactly. It's obvious from the map that there are no bridges over the Danube downstream from Galati, but apparently there are no ferries either...

I'd say that's the alternate scenic route.
