You can always find the updated Romanian road quality map in the first post of this thread.

Looks like main roads in Romania are of better quality than in Poland !
And sure there is a glaring lack of motorways

The national roads are indeed quite good in terms of pavement. Many national roads were rehabilitated in the last 10 years and the progress is immense. The main problems in Romania remain the lack of motorways and the fact that there are not many bypasses of towns and villages. Sometimes also the road markings are not so good.

Today, at about 12:00, the contract for completing the works on A1 motorway, section Nadlac-Arad lot 2 (ex. Alpine section) was signed with Astaldi-Max Bögl.

At 13:00 they already started working on the site.

Do you know the deadline / expected opening date?

Do they usually work on Saturday too?

I'm afraid you're stuck in the past Since 2011, 2012, Polish roads (I'm not talking about motorways) are getting really good!

Anyway, if Romania builds quickly a big net of motorways, it will be quicker to go to Constanța to have some țuică

The so-called Masterplan map for Romanian motorways:

Pitesti-Sibiu expressway, but Brasov-Bacau a motorwat. That's strange.

What is the difference between Drumuri EuroTrans and Drumuri Trans Regio in terms of grade separation, lane width, etc.?
What does the dashed orange triangle stand for?

Bogdymol. Is there any chance that they will revisit the Romanian Expressway standards soon, the current 100kph expressway standard is too slow and something approaching the Polish version ( and designed for 110kph or 120kph) would be much better in a large country like Romania.

And what happened to the middle bit of Bechtels A3....not even an expressway???

Everybody so far is thinking that this Masterplan is wrong at so many things. Except our politicians. They do not say anything since they are all busy with the upcomming elections. They care only about that.

The most obvious mistake on the map is the lack of a proper bypass for Bucharest.

I can't tell you what were they thinking with those expressways as we don't have any in Romania and the design standard is not clear.

OK so this is yet another timely election winning map and not a real one. Got it.

Is the government still holding onto the key AADT figures like a major state secret or are they being made available periodically somewhere. ???

This was announced to be our transport Masterplan, developed in the last 2 years. It should't contain any "election" parts in it, but unfortunately it's not what we hoped it will be.

There is a map with the AADT from 2010 in the thread from my signature (many info in that thread is outdated btw).

As there is a 'new' transport minister every 6 months or so I take it this will last as long as the current minister or so.

Thats what i mean, the current and even the recent figures are a carefully held secret. In case hard facts get in the way of a proper plan I suppose.
