The source of the programming - which is not yet official - mentions that the Government attempts to switch certain core corridors with comprehensive and get that approved by the EC. This may be one case. The official programme is due in January, so this is only what has spilled in the media.

Yes. It's the 6 km long link road between A1 and the town of Nadlac. It's a new road, which you can see in the video I quoted.

Why didn't they open the Pecica-Arad part?
It's not really long and its opening would connect Arad and Timisoara to Hungary with ease.

Anyway, any opening date for that part?
Or for another motorway???

Oh, i didn't know that it is still U/C.
I thought it would have been opened and i was just impressed it is not, because it is relatively short.

Also, i see a lot of motorways are U/C and i would like to see them come into being, because Romania (like a lot of countries) is in desperate need of motorways.

You spent all of 2014 telling us that A1 Sibiu Pitesti was no longer core and that the main Carpathian crossing would be Bucharest - Brasov.

Forgive me for having a laugh at the latest 'plan'. Cluj is not even on the core network and neither is any road from Cluj-Budapest.

Nor is there a proper expressway build standard ( short of full profile motorway). The EU likes countries to have 2 standards nowadays.

Well, for once, that wasn't his own opinion, but the goverment official policy regarding the Transport Masterplan. Indeed, our ministers are a f**ked up bunch of people, that went to all means necesary to force as much traffic as possible through the number one national priority (in their opinion) that is A3 Comarnic-Brasov.

They event went so far as to ask the EU to change the Romanian TEN-T network completely, practicaly switching around the comprehensive routes with the core ones. A1 Pitesti-Sibiu was replaced by a longer and costly Ploiesti-Brasov-Sibiu, A8 Targu Mures-Iasi (which we only recently managed to upgrade to a CORE route) was replaced by an unheard of Brasov-Bacau that also replaced the A7 Ploiesti-Focsani-Suceava motorway. Even more, the core routes were projected to become only express roads, not motorways.

Luckily, this plan wasn't compatible with the EU; moreover, Comarnic-Brasov is now very likely to fail (for the THIRD freaking time!!) because of financing issues on the long term. Combined with the huge political failure last month, when the party in power failed to fully grab the power and saw a lot of people in the streets, it seems that their plans have changed back to normal: CORE routes first, probably motorways. Comarnic-Brasov is barely mentioned any more.

Still, even if it's now a priority, it's unclear of Pitesti-Sibiu will be built as a motorway from the start, or in so-called "phases", first as an express road to be upgraded later... Obviously, as it's a mountain route, this phasing makes no sense and no significant sum of money can be saved in the first step. Let's hope they also drop this stupid rethoric and do things right...

I remember I read they will drop the dumb "expressway" idea and build full motorway there. Might be wrong though and many things could change. In any case, I want to see them start building there ASAP.

Officially it's Timisoara-Lugoj lot 1, but it's more like a short bypass for Timisoara. Exact location.

Is there already a tender for gazstations on the A1 between Makos and Arad? I know only the existence of a Gazpromstation at one of the A1 exits in Arad (direction HU).

There are no gas stations on any new Romanian motorways (built in the last 5 years). This includes Nadlac-Arad-Timisoara, Lugoj bypass and the entire Deva-Sibiu section. The Transport Ministry answered one of our forumers question early last year promising that they will tender gas station spaces on the motorways by the end of 2014. Nothing happened since.

That Gazprom station is located at Arad-south exit, but is not signed on the motorway. It's just a gas station located right at the exit, but it has nothing to do with the motorway. You can get there from both directions from the motorway, but only if you know about it, because it's not signed.
