Has the widening of DN7 b/n Boita and Lazarat been completed meanwhile?

No, Transfagarasan is not open as there were a lot of snowfalls during last 2 weeks. Transfagarasan is officialy closed from 1st of November till 30st of June (but those two dates depends on the amount of snow).

Also I don't think that anyone will make a detour through Transfagarasan as the road is not in such a great shape. Probably people use, even now as we speak (is not open yet!), either DN1 through Brasov either DN 66 through Petrosani. Any one of them are big detours.

And speaking of that widening - no, it is not finished. But anyway, is not of a big importance since is quite short.

SOURCE (in roumanian).

I think this year is the most dissapointing one in quite a while for only about 35 km of motorways opened in total. That not counting the closed section of motorway near Sibiu.

Highways and Roads Company Director sacked

Quote:
Narcis Neaga, Director of the Highways and National Roads Company (CNADNR), has been sacked, official sources stated on Tuesday. A Transport Ministry communiqué shows that the General Assembly of CNADNR Shareholders decided to replace Narcis Neaga with Catalin Homor, the subsequent order being signed on Tuesday by Transport Minister Dan Costescu.

You guys can now submit your candidatures.

Quote:
The Transport Minister also announced that the procedure of selecting a new management – director general and Board of Directors – will start in line with Emergency Government Ordinance 109 on corporate governance.

Likewise, a period in which the company’s activity will be rendered transparent will follow and each person interested will be able to see as much information as possible about CNADNR’s projects, the funds that are about to be spent, the companies that will win the contracts and all aspects that are of interest for civil society.

I don't think it was. I guess the worst was about when A3 in the north-west was shut down after being like 50% done(2010?). So you needn't think it was. But definitely it wasn't the lucky one. BTW, Salini is still contracted as the project maker eg. in Poland Stupid not to learn from mistakes

There should be strong laws at European level so they can put down such scammers...

A3 at the entrance in Bucharest:

video by API

You can note:
- 3 lanes, but no hard shoulder
- not opened to traffic because of a 2-3 km missing section linking it to the street network of Bucharest

If I'm not mistaken, it was built by Pizzarotti at the same time when they built their section of A3 north of Bucharest ring road. This few km of motorway are not connected on the southern (Bucharest) side with anything.

Actually they started building that short stretch shortly after opening the first stretch towards Ploiesti. During these construction works problems concerning the actual cost of the project evolved (aka, the project was modified at some point and Pizzarotti demanded extra funds beyond the legal limit) and works were stopped. Eventually it was settled that they finish building what they started, without making the stretch usable for traffic, pack their bags and leave, while CNADNR would tender the remaining 3km.

It seems there is still room for hard shoulders, at least from the video.

Let me guess. They switched from 2 lanes to 3.
