We would first need to add a colour for closed motorway sections ...

I think maps like this just indicate the initial opening. (Short) closures are quite common. German Autobahn sections like A40 were also closed for several months, an A44 section was closed for a surface mine in 2005 and will be reopened in 2017. If it's necessary, you could also indicate it red again...

And you can follow live that event on Google Maps, traffic layer. The situation right now it is red in Recas area as all the trafic coming from A1 - WEST (from western Europe) is constrained to go through DN6, a 1+1 national road which passes through all the villages between Timisoara and Lugoj.

Hopefully the situation will change soon and will see green on DN6 and also on A1.

Does anybody here know when the plans changed when it comes to the A3/A1/A10? I have a map which shows the "old" situation regarding construction of A1/A3. The newest map I have here shows the current plans, which means they will build the A3 until Ogra between Turda and Târgu Mureș. Is it correct, that the A10 will have the function of an alternative for the capstone (missing link) of the A3 between Târgu Mureș & Brașov? Or is it still planned to complete the A3 between Oradea and București?

Finally; the expectation of opening of Lot 4 (Ilia - Deva / Şoimuş) is 2015 or 2016?

Please click on the link in bogdymols (e.g. for maps) and my signature (e.g. for estimated opening dates) .

Yes, A10/A13 is prior compared to A3 Targu Mures - Brasov. I think it was changed about 3 years ago.

The contracts for the construction of A3 Turda -Targu Mures were signed but works have not yet been started.

Nice! So this means it is motorway now from Hungarian border to Lugoj

When are they going to open the motorway from Lugoj to Deva?

And when are they going to open the closed part from Sebes to Sibiu?

Well, it is open some 20 km after Lugoj towards Deva. Between that point and Deva is under construction except for 6 km where they will have to build 3 tunnels. That part is not yet tender and construction will probablly begin only in 2016.

So, most of Lugoj - Deva could be open by the end of 2016, but all the segment will not be open earlier than end of 2017. On that closed part between Sebes and Sibiu there are no works at this moment. We hope to be build during spring time and to be open by the end of June 2016.

I think it's a first when we don't see any iota of politician at a motorway opening. At least not the PM thank God !

AFAIK, the opening was at approx. 19:00, but the pictures quoted were taken earlier during that day. The cars you can see on the motorway are the ones from the officials performing the reception & final checks.

Can you make a summary about his views? Which motorway plan does he approve? What are the priority sections in his opionion? Does he favor more bridges with Bulgaria? If yes, in what order? What does he think about a bridge/tunnel at Tulcea? If he is a transportation, not only road, advisor, what are his views about other means of transport?

I didn't follow his views on the Romanian 'counterpart' forum, where he moved his activity some time ago, but I follow his FB page, and he intends to do some serious preparation for the upcoming projects, in order to avoid the problems with bad engineering we had on A1 recently.

He only has a 1 year mandate, similar with this 'caretaker' government, so he will probably attend the major contracting procedures announced next year for Sibiu-Pitesti and Comarnic-Brasov motorways, and continuation of current construction projects on A1, A10 and A3.

For the rest of projects, they are in the adopted masterplan, and will most probably not be changed (e.g. bridge at Braila/Tulcea - this for example was discussed for the 2016 budget, but was not passed due to lack of funding next year). The question is when will financing be available for each of them.

Has Comaric - Brasov not been tendered and cancelled mid/late/very late tender twice already???

Why would anyone waste money preparing a tender so???

The concession procedure for Comarnic-Brașov failed 3 times actually. As a result, the strategy changed and in the Infra Masterplan it appears as a phased motorway built with a mix of Government, and EU financing, as well as international loans. And in fact 2 of the 5 lots were already tendered , and the winners should be announced în the first months of 2016. The other 3 lots may be also tendered next year. Again, this is outside of a concession procedure.
