First of all they should put a sing warning for wild animals crossing the A1 motorway between Bucharest and Pitesti, because last spring when I used that motorway I saw that it didn't have a protective net on either side and many animals (mainly pigs and cows) where eating grass right next to the emergency lane.

There is now a protective net AFAIK but I was lucky enough before not to meet one of these animals cause I travel a lot on that motorway.

A3 in between Bucharest and Ploiesti is almost ready for asphalt pouring, but works willl be stopped until next year for lack of money.

How much money do they have to invest in A3: Bucharest - Ploiesti so that it will be finished? Because if it is already ready for asphalt that means that most of the major works are ready.

The special asphalt for motorways does not come that cheap, as explained on the Romanian forum. Plus they still have some structural works, including connections. But the idea is they could complete it this year, yet will delay completion for the next year for lack of money.

Truth to be hold, DN1 is good enough for the section in between Ploiesti and Bucharest for now.

That looks brilliant! I thought they were quite behind the schedule with the construction. It should be ready by next year then...

Can someone in the Romanian forum update OpenStreetMap with these motorways under construction? It's hard to follow because a large number of small sections are under construction but some of them are delayed and some are nearly ready... Would be nice to have the map.... On OSM I can see Bucharest-Ploiesti under construction but not the others.

So it seems in the next 18 months there will be these new motorways:
Bucharest-Ploiesti
Turda-Campia Turzii
Suplacu de Barcau-Bors
Arad-Timisoara
Northern Bucharest Ring: Upgrade to Motorway

Is there ever going to be the final section of Bucharest-Constanta? There is around 50 km missing at Constanta.

The new deadline for Bucharest-Ploiesti is 2012.
Turda-Campia Turzii (12 km) will be ready THIS YEAR... probably.
Suplacu de Barcau-Bors... God knows when.
Arad-Timisoara in 2011.

The Bucharest ring is just an UPGRADE to 2x2, not full motorway profile. Some sections will be ready this year, the rest in 2011-12.

And yes, Bucharest-Constanta and Constanta bypass (www.constantabypass.ro) will be ready in 2011-2012.

Skynick is maintaining a map with the sections under construction. It's not as precise as needed for OSM, but you can follow the action.

I believe the latest version is here http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...postcount=2133

The new deadline for Bucharest-Ploiesti is 2012.

I have to correct you here as well. The 2012 deadline is including the 7km stretch of urban motorway in Bucharest. But the Bucharest ringroad - Ploiesti bypass section will be ready next year. This section could be ready this year but the works were significantly reduced due to low budget.

It seems in this year there will be opened only 10 km of motorway Campia turzii - Turda!

So this map here :

Update

Next week I will come up with this updates. And I will delete all planned motorways from A5 to A7 from the map.
I will keep track only for the projects that are actually happening.

You can easily delete everything else than A1,A2 and A3.

I was watching news about the Vidin-Calafat bridge on the Bulgarian National TV and according to the chief architect of Calafat this year should start the construction of the motorway/highway (in Bulgarian there is only one word for both) between Calafat and Craiova. 80 mil euros had been secured for this project.

There is a plan also for a big industrial zone in the area of Calafat.

No, there is no plan yet for a motorway between Calafat and Craiova. I don't know what the chief architect was talking about, but again, no motorway in the near future. The only real project is the rehabilitation of 1+1 road between the two cities and indeed, it should start soon.

The Calafat-Craiova motorway is part of Corridor IV Southern Romanian Section (Timisoara-Calafat) which is going to be financed by the EU during the 2014-2020 budgetary cycle, together with the adjacent high-speed railway. There are no plans until 2014 for this section.

BTW: I thought they were going to upgrade the railway in between Calafat and Craiova as well?
