I hate it how they always write Budapesta instead of Budapest. Although it is quite obvious what city it is, it is still an international destination - the English/German/Hungarian name would be more appropriate IMO.
And Vama (=the border checkpoint) Bors is also not very helpful for foreigners. |

I think there's a "Bratislava" too:
![]() Interesting to note:Wien in german,Bratislava in english... But I miss the romanian "Arad" from the hungarian "Arad" sign ![]()

there are also some signs with only Pozsony near Győr. and i think that it's not about english and german, but about hungarian and original language. btw, what would be german for Bratislava??

Hi, guys!
I want to go by car this autumn from Chisinau to Prague through Romania. There are two possibilities, either from Brasov on E 68 through Sibiu, Deva, Arad and then to Szeged and Budapest or from Brasov on E 60 through Targu-Mures, Cluj-Napoca, Oradea and then Budapest. Could you recommend me the fastest way. I've heard that road between Brasov and Sibiu is an expressway. Is it true? And i also read, that last autumn the road E 68 between Sibiu and Deva was totally closed. So, what happening now? Thank you in advance! |

Transylvania motorway is only being built...for the hungarian part, take the more western...I advice going via Slovakia and not Austria.
BTW,if you're coming from Chisinau, why go down to the south? Why not go via Baia Mare-Satu Mare-Nyíregyháza-Budapest-etc?

lexut I advise you to go via Bacau-Onesti(my hometown
)-Brasov-Tg.Mures-Cluj-Bors. It is a bit longer than the other way through Sibiu-Deva but you will travel quicker. From Brasov to Sibiu there are intensive work of maintenance/upgrading made on the national road. The expressway is only in project status for the moment.

![]() BTW, Bratislava was in English Pressburg, but now everybody uses Bratislava, since name of this city changed in 1919 and almost everybody except Hungarians uses the new name.

Because i went 1.5 year ago through Iasi, Suceava, Bistrita and Cluj-Napoca and the road between Suceava and Cluj-Napoca was horrible! What could you tell about quality of section's Baia Mare - Satu Mare surface? |

It is Ok, not worse than the southern route. BTW I do not think there is any expressway there. So If I were you, I would go the way RawLee suggested. Imo even going down to Cluj seems like a detour. |
