Its coming along nicely What is the expected completion date?

I keep thinking that we should copy/steal the tram station idea for our new Sava river bridge , for easier access to Ada Ciganlija island below.

Indeed. It's looking good. The completion date is the end of this year.

The Sava bridge is bigger I guess, and all in all is more majestic, being over the large river. How's the access to the island below?

That's some nice news at all! What about this expressway parameters - number of lanes, hard shoulders etc.

It will be 2x2, with grade separation at all intersections, and hard shoulders on some sections only AFAIK. The axis of the road will have concrete bumpers.

Progress for Timisoara-Arad section of A1 is really good. Looks like an opening before completion deadline next year:

Now we have confirmation from the Government about opening of 30 km by the end of the year:
  • 12 km of Transilvania Motorway (Turda-Campia Turzii) in September, and
  • 18 km of Sibiu by-pass in December

Next year, there are chances we see 77 km or even 137 km opening:
  • 55 km of Arad-Timisoara section of A1
  • 22 km of Constanta by-pass
  • 50 km of Bucharest-Ploiesti A3 (maybe)

There isn't much work to do at Sibiu by-pass, is it?
As for Turda-Campia Turzii, they have started pouring the asphalt a month ago.

I'm not sure about Sibiu bypass... but the Gov put away some additional money for the completion of the motorway this year. We'll see if the builder/contractors can pull it off....... I sure hope they do it because one month ago it took me ONE HOUR to cross the city (from the airport to the commercial area on DN1).

Arad - Timisoara motorway has just 32 km. If you add Arad by-pass you will get 45,9 km, but I don't think that they will complete the by-pass next year because on about 5 km they haven't started the works yet.

Romanian Govt Has Money To Co-Finance Ongoing Road Infrastructure Projects - Min

The Romanian Government has funds to co-finance all ongoing road infrastructure projects, Transport Minister Radu Berceanu said Thursday, adding that, next year, Romania will attract large amounts of European Union funds through the Sectoral Operational Program Transport (SOPT).

I'm not saying Sibiu bypass can't be finished in December, I am saying that I can't believe them anymore. The works for the bypass started in April 2004, 6 years ago, and Radu Berceanu was the Minister of Transport for half of this time, and I simply can't give him any credit now.

Of course they can handle it. Max Bögl is one of the most important contractors in the world. But what Berceanu didn't said is that the joint venture Max Bögl + Geiger + Contram is working for about 6 months on their own money. And I wonder if that additional amount of money isn't just a way for the Ministry to pay its debts.

I'm not worried about Max Bogl, I'm worried about Vectra. If Vectra doesn't do its part, then the bypass is almost useless. AFAIK.

Vectra seems ok too, they are moving fast. Plus, they have a very short section of the bypass to build and the terrain is flat, no obstacles at all.
So let's hope that stretch of motorway will be ready for real in December, and I will be very grateful to finally bypass Sibiu.

There is quite nice work at Bucharest ringroad! How long are the sections U/C?! Are there contracts signed for all the sections from A2 to A1?
