Oh, damn, I forgot about it! That's Kaufland's SEE logistic center that was started this year!

A1, A2, A3 could be ready not will be ready. I'm not so optimistic like you Le Clerk. Just thinking that TM started in 2004 and in 6 years and a half they completed only 1 section out of 8 summing 54 km. Also 75% of TM is not even u/c.

Regarding A2, what could I say.. The broke ground was in 1991(Bucharest- Fundulea section) and this only we don't consider Cernavoda - Fetesti section opened in 1987. So at the end it will be a little bit more then 200 km plan motorway built in 22-23 years..

About the mountain sections as Comarnic- Brasov or Pitesti- Sibiu let's hope only that they will start the building untill 2020. About the completion is hard to assume the year 2020 as deadline.

However the hosting of 2020 European Championship would boost the infrastructure works in Romania. Let's hope to get it!

I agree we can be pessimistic, but I believe it is double by 2020. TM was not started in 2004, but signed. Construction works properly started in 2007, and in 2009 the first 42 km were delivered.

This is way off! In 23 years, there were no U/C sections but for a few years. And until 2007, we had no EU funds, which also impose some deadlines. It's a totally different situation now than how it was 20 years ago., Let's not mix apples with pears.

With the tender for the Comarnic-Brasov section next year, I think works could start in 2012 at the latest, and if no financing problems occur, it could be finished in 2015 or 2016 at latest. Pitesti-Sibiu might be tendered next year as well, with a similar deadline for completion IMO.

Indeed.

The construction of it doesn't seems to be a logistic center.

It could well be a distribution center, as they usually stock their stuff pretty high up. They have these forklift trucks which can get stuff over 10 meters in the air. It's pretty interesting if you think about what happens with the products you so conveniently buy in the supermarket.

The logistic center is in MIhai Viteazul commune, near Turda. Here's the news about it. It's an EUR 80 million investment on a 40 ha building.

You may think it looks like a viaduct, but it's in fact a very big box.

I have strong reserves that Ro will host any time soon an "EURO"

And the main problem I don't think it is the lack of Stadiums and transport (airports, motorway, rail)

The main problem is that our cities are kinda' small (200k-300k, with the metro can go higher, but is more ore less rural area), and we don't have hotels for hosting 30.000-50.000 fans. (much bigger problem than to build a 50.000 seat stadium). Even if they build a swarm of hotels, they will be empty after, In Ucraina and Poland, most hosting cities are over 1 million. (I know in Austria somme cities where smaler (not Switzerland), but they are "light years" ahead of our turism)

Also the new format will participate 24 teams, so even more cities are neded.

favorites for 2020, 2024, 2028 are Turkey, Russia... - even old hosts (Spain, Italy)

But then you are a hopeless dreamer... so keep dreaming.

It seems once again M35-Berettyóújfalu-Bors section became priority over the M43... But still, it will probably be built only with the deadline: 31.12.2014.

No worries, there's no way for us to finish Borş-Gilău until December 2014.
About M43... The Romanian motorway between Nagylak/Nădlac and Arad isn't even tendered yet, so no hurry. Unfortunately.
Bottom line, it seems your government knows better.

Don't worry, RO gov is much slower, unfortunately.

That article has too many mistakes to pretend to do an analysis.

Just look at the level of completion for Sibiu by-pass or generally ask yourself what do they mean by "accomplished".

Even if the article doesn't seem to be a very professional study, it contains quite a surprise. Pitesti-Sibiu segment of A1 is not to be co-financed by the EU. Since the government seems to be much more interested in contructing the A3 segment Comarnic-Brasov, it is pretty clear to me that any works on Pitesti-Sibiu won't start in the next five years.

It is funny how Romania prefers to build hills in the middle of roundabouts - or is this happening elsewhere, too?

I think some are temporary, BUT in the same area of Sibiu there is another round-about without "hills" and unexperienced drivers would "normally" just drive through it ruining the round-about quite frequently. Now they chose the "hilly" version so maybe drivers do notice the hill before they realise they have to go around the round-about.
